    The 2024 Longshot Thread

I'm looking at Maxi King, could be on a steep upward curve.

    Anyone making a profit

Who cares. I have just seen a horse with half its leg hanging off.

    Yorks Dante meeting

I remember Saratoga Gold from last season. I think he would have won the day he unseated his rider at York. He was powering up and clear in front after the line, albeit without a jockey. Definately worth a go as a long shot, each way. Good luck all today.

Ha how you keeping fella. I see you knocked in a big price winner a few days ago. Well done, sir. I'm doubting if the rain will get in to the ground as I'd hoped for Kodi. I'm off to check the weather forecast again.

I'm hoping the heavens open for Monsieur Kodi on Wednesday. Best form on good to soft or soft. If he gets a bit of cut in the ground I think he's on a nice mark and open to more improvement this season.

    The 2024 Longshot Thread

Ascot 1:30 - Appier has been plying his trade at a lower level than what he encounters today, but he has a very good strike rate, 3/12 on turf, and 4/9 on the all weather. He won four races on the bounce in 2022 after being gelded, and has picked up races here and there since. I would forget...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I wouldn't put anyone off Opening Bid tonight, in the 7.05 at Warwick. He's 5/16 over fences, and 3/14 over hurdles. That's a decent strike rate, so he knows how to get his head in front anyway. He's also 7 pounds lower over hurdles now, which may have encouraged connections to have another go...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Ha. Yeah I knew about this horse after she beat that excellent yardstick from 2021 and 2022, Gale Force Maya. Princess Shabnam subsequently lost her form for the most part anyway, but after once being rated as high as 107 after that listed win at Pontefract, it'd be disappointing if she...

Safe to say my approval is like carrying a 6lb penalty.

    Form Study or Maths

I know, Drone. I think I've treat this place like my Facebook. I've started and ended more folks and accounts than than a dodgy hedge fund or Bitcoin boss. I think this latest reincarnation was created in about 2018, hence the 'journeyman' title? It's been a journey though man, that's for sure.

    Form Study or Maths

I thought the same thing, I.E, it's not one or the other. There's always maths involved in betting, and form study is just more algebraic. I also believe in something called luck. When you get some, enjoy and embrace it. If making it pay were a precise science bookmakers wouldn't be around...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I've been notified from my email that an interesting low level handicapper called Dotties Star, who I mentioned last season, runs in the 6.00 at Windsor today. I'm off to have a look.
