Monster performance for sure.
Great to see Adrian Murray and Robson Aguiar have Group 1 success with Amo.
Another smaller trainer proving his worth; what's not to like.
Blue Point has set a storming pace in FSS list with over 20 winners so far.
Well done to him.

I agree. And while watching the race was thinking about how many nice horses just get wasted by being in a big yard. Take His Majesty, for example. A lovely big horse who in a smaller yard could probably thrived. He now looks like he’s going backwards and will end up as a lead horse, most likely.

So how does Vandeek rate now after the Morny? On a literal reading of form must be 3-4lb superior to Ramatuelle and 6-7lb superior to River Tiber. With the latter you don't know how to gauge the problems he's had and what effect they had on his run.

Another concern is Vandeek has never run on anything better than soft ground. All this form can be turned upside down if we have a dry Autumn.

Looks like he'll go for the Middle Park, though after his Goodwood win Crisford said he was sure he'd get at least 7f, and he certainly wasn't stopping yesterday. .

Vandeek sure was gutsy and game and not stopping.
Havana Gold / Exceed and Excel/Lead On Time does not scream anything beyond seven furlongs but you never know.
Very good race on soft ground River Tiber should improve for better ground however.

There’s an interesting little race at Leicester 2:15 today with top stables putting in a number of well thought of newcomers. It’s one of those races that give those trainers a good yardstick to work with.

If the forecast's to be believed, the ground at Leicester will be significantly slower than the official g/f.

Mmm, worth keeping that one in the reference folder. Charlie Appleby has had a miserable season with his older horses, but said he was expecting a rich autumn (or words to that effect) as his later 2yo runners appeared. If the two in this race - Soft Winds and Elegant Friend - are anything to go by he’s going to stay miserable.

I'd be surprised if the winner of the first race at Leop on Saturday, Kitty Rose, wasn't up to group race standard.

Think the Royal Lodge could turn out to be a race to rewatch and take several out of. The winner is lovely and traveled beautifully, handling the dip very well for a big horse. Capulet definitely wants further, Macduff too is nice and scopey while At Vimeiro ran very well for one so thrown in the deep end and also on the wrong side.

Dance Sequence looks like a very nice filly to keep on side. I know they are saying the second had a poor start but DS was still very green, she’s a big filly who was carrying a bit of condition from her delayed reappearance. Very much one for next year.

Really interesting Fillies Mile. I can understand the love for the AOB filly but See the Fire is the one I'd want onside for the Oaks. She was green, maybe went for home a tad too soon and obviously conceded so much ground hanging left.

Ancient Wisdom another really nice two year old from Appleby. He’s big and again will be another to improve over the winter. My one issue would be whether or not he’d handle an undulating course as he’s got a very pronounced knee action and I’d rather him on a flat track.

Either way, keep on side of the yards two year olds for the remainder of the season.

City of Troy....just given me proper goosebumps! This is a serious, serious horse.

Very nice from City Of Troy in the ground.

Not backing material but was obvious for the ITV7 and I said to Mrs O just before the off, "I hope the jockey - she wouldn't know who he was from Adam - lets it go off in front and dares them to challenge."

Spot on tactical ride, imo, by Moore.

Got to have prospects of staying the Derby trip too:

Adsolutely!
The way RM forced the pace, on adverse ground, suggests they're fully aware of his very high standing.

Their Frankel , according to Michael Tabor.
Big words but from debut this horse has not put a foot wrong.
Given his sire never ran at two City Of Troy can only improve; if he does then the sky is the limit.
Zafonic's Dewhurst win was the most impressive I have seen but I have seen all this guy's races and evens for 2000 Gns looks a fair bet 6 months out.
Let us hope he shows up.

I really hope so. I can see why they were nervous of the ground beforehand as he’s a beautiful mover and it would have been a shame to have been beaten because of it. But this horse is the real deal and coped admirably with it. And has the most wonderful temperament...both before and afterwards, just quietly taking it all in....sign of a really top class horse, full of intelligence.

Anyone here old enough to remember Apalachee ?
Fifty years ago, before my time he was all time top rated Irish 2 yo with 10-5 in Madrid Free Handicap.
Third in 2000 Gns to Nonoalco when long odds on favourite.
Had possible wind issues and returned to USA.
Like most Round Table stock he was a moderate enough sire but of course wind issues would not have helped that career either.
