As I'm sure you've all guessed, half the reason I like these French Group 1s is so I can swan around pretentiously pronouncing (or mispronouncing - you tell me) their names.

I'd be fairly confident it's Prix as in Grand Prix, Jacques as in Jacques Cousteau, Le as in, well, Le and Marois pronounced "Mar-wah" but always happy to be corrected.

Anyway, seems to me it keeps riding that bit quicker than advertised at Deauville so far this summer, BUT, if there is actual cut, Dancing Gemini will have his ground for the first time in a bit and ought to run well.

It would help to know he is actually running, though.

He's pencilled in for the City Of York next week - and equally likely to be a bad fav.
Totally the wrong race for him. If he couldn't peg back a handicapper over a longer trip at Goodwood what chance at York in a race that is sure to be run at a nice pace. Clueless planning imo.

They're calling it Soft at Deauville tomorrow - it better had be!

I don't trust them frankly.

One time just 0.19s outside the RP standard for 6f at the Gallic Pit Du Gas today.

If Notable Speech gets his ground, he's got a big chance if he comes back to his best and I'm in big trouble.

But if there's give I'd hope Dancing Gemini will return to his best and outrun the odds I bet him at.

Interesting race.

I've taken 11/1 Zabiari. Three out of three this season. Ended last season on a curve (on RPRs) at 105. RPRs this season 97, 107, 116, hinting at a steep curve against modest opponents although no doubt TLIW will finally justify my high opinion of him when my money isn't on.

Good luck Maurice - is it true that if today's winner doesn't achieve an MR (Maurice Rating) of at least 125 you'll be penning a strongly-worded letter to Macron about declining standards in French G1s?

The letter is already written and ready to post:

Mon cher Monsieur Macron,

Ian Davies,

Moi?

What a crap race.

Glorified handicap. Dancing Gemini and Docklands close up?

TLIW's feet still bothering him? (I think the ground is fast.)

Notable Speech will smash this lot next time.

Spot on (assuming you're pronouncing the 'J' correctly and not like the 'J' in 'Jack).

Time was 1m 34.23s, 1.37s faster than the RP's stab at a standard for 1m at Deauville, whose own stab at what the ground was was Good to Soft.
