I couldn't see it in RP Big-Race entries, but found it here.

I can see ORs, but no weights.

I ought to know this - but don't - do they run off their OR at entry or OR when weights are published?

A few people seem to think Pendragon is thrown in - and a "knock" at 10/1 best - if he runs off 97 after his Doncaster Cup run.

But will he get to run off 97 or a revised mark?

Alleluia won the Doncaster Cup in 2001 for Sir Mark Prescott and went off 7/2f in the Cesarewitch ( off 93 which I assume includes a 7 pound penalty for two wins after the weights were published ). She didn't win that race, and Sir Mark has never trained the winner of it. I looked up the result, and she finished 6th and lame.
I have also looked for the Cesarewitch weights on the RP site, and they were still missing over the weekend.

Zanndabad has never won a race for Tony Martin, but a return to a more suitable trip and not overdoing the waiting tactics might help.

Difference being he wont get a penalty for finishing 2nd. Off 97 any reading you like on that Doncaster cup run has him about 110 and it was a proper race so nothing flattering about it.

💯%.

The reason they say ignore Conditions race form in handicaps is they often go no pace and a horse can be flattered to get so close to Pattern horses.

But the time of the Doncaster Cup tells you that's no worry here.

If Pendragon rocks up and can run off 97, he won't be the price he is now.

This is one of my favourite races of the season. I'll be shocked if I don't back the winner of it.

This looks the key piece of form.

Looking forward to this.

This thread isn't even two hours old and I'm loving it already.

I think you could draw a comparison with Ain't nobody whos about the same price for the Ayr gold cup and equally aswell in. However Aint nobody achieved that rating in a one off run over an easy 5f and hasnt produced anything like that form over 6f.

Whereas Pendragons form is rated over the the same trip. Also having nearly a stone less physical weight to carry over 2m+ has a lot more value than than over the 6f.

The 2 are the same price but for me totally different in terms of value in the bet.

The Newmarket Cesarewitch Trial Flat Handicap on Saturday is something of a misnomer given that since 2000, 64 horses have gone on to the following Cesarewitch proper and only 1 has won and 3 have placed only, not much room for nuance there.

Question for the Boffins whats the shortest price a horse has ever gone off for the Ceasarewitch ?

I was told once that dude was a word for a camels cock. Whether thats true or not i dont not know I've never had the heart to Google it to find out it was a lie. But I assure thee I am a complete camels cock in real life.

Artless won at 5/6 in 1859, but that's way before the pawras turn of the millenium cut-off point before which the entire world was indeed black and white, if not actually sepia tinted.

Walsworth was there and reportedly managed to get some evens in the Silver Ring - the winner hailed from a stable in form apparently.
