Leopardstown Christmas Meeting

Ive bet Home By The Lee. Wrong price.

Banbridge ran well, Solness won yesterday, his novice was going to win.

Yards flying, as it was last Christmas. And for that reason Ive backed Jordans in the handicap as well

In the two grade ones, I think Home by the Lea @ 14s + Grangeclere West @ 25s, may run well , for ew hounds, like myself.

I already have GW onside for the Grand National at 33/1 (and in a double with The Jukebox Man for the other day) so from that point of view the last thing I want is for it to run well today ;)

I want it to get into the National off no more than 160.

Edit - I've backed The Yellow Clay (15/2 taken last night) and today I added INTWUT for which I got 5/1, quite a drift from the 2s tops last night, plus the ew double at 5s & 5s.

Leopardstown 2.30

Inothewayurthinkin 11/2

This is the biggest bet I’ve had this Christmas. He’s simply the wrong price. He’ll love the ground, while others won’t. He’s had a spin in the John Durkan. He wasn’t off twice at Leopardstown last year as he was being aimed at the Grand National. Today is no stepping-stone Grade 1. He’s here to win.

Real life has intervened and I'll not make it to Leopardstown today, sadly.

Here are the bets I would have had.

4x Trebles and Accum
12.10 Lazare de Star 8/13
12.40 The Nagger Reidy 5/1
13.20 Soldier in Milan 3/1
15.40 Bentraghill 8/11

EW Patent

13.55 Racky's Diamond 33/1 EW
14.30 Champ Kiely 7/1 EW
15.05 Desertmore House 20/1 EW

Good luck.

This is just a cracking card, really, it makes me proud to be an Irishman (312th application for citizenship pending).

Then there's Final Demand at Limerick Junction - what a day!

Took an ew punt on Hello Neighbour in the Christmas Hurdle tomorrow.
Has 10lb to find, but this is his first season out of novice company, so not beyond the realms of possibility. I also think, there's question marks about one or two of the market leaders.. Think the 66/1 is too big !

Just to avoid confusion. The December hurdle is the race you mean. The Christmas hurdle is the race today.

Ballyburn at 11/8.

You're obviously convinced Ballyburn will stay, Luke.

I have my doubts plus TYC being a second-season novice who does and who can hopefully improve 10lbs into his second season, could bring them very close. Ballyburn is the only one I'm particularly worried about.

Ballyburn will be hard to beat but The Yellow Clay is entitled to one more run before we write him off. I think Rocky's Diamond will run a big race at a price.
