I always enjoy looking at the first show of the markets after the dust has settled :)

i have bet Final Demand gold cup at 16s e/w. think he may improve for the extra distance and wouldn't be the first brown advisory 2nd/3rd to go one better in the big one the following year. seems big.

Kopek Des Bordes 5/1 for the Champion Chase. has has all of 2 runs this year and looked the winner all over bar the slight mistake at the last. think this could be a crack 2 mile chaser and 5s fine by me.

anyone else completely mental and playing this early? :)

Oh yes:

El Cairos 20/1 Champion Hurdle. This bet was placed before the Festival and he's longer now but he has scope to improve and I would contend that not one Elliott horse ran to form this week, including his one winner.
Idaho Sun 50/1 Champion Hurdle. Form was franked in the Supreme, 50s just way too big.

Jasmin de Vaux 25/1 Stayers' - 2026 was a terrible terrible renewal and I want nothing to do with any of them going forward. JdV will do me.

Ile Etait Temps 50/1 Ryanair. I think Willie's main QM horses next year will be the front two in the Arkle and I think it's worth chancing IeT might go Ryanair, certainly at the price. Now how Festival form.

Mental you’s lot. Hard enough finding them on the day 😅
However, i did look at the markets.

Gaelic Warrior 4/1 first showfor Gold Cup is absolutely scandalous 12 months out.

I must be being thick as f%*& as well. King Rasko Grey 8/1 for Champion Hurdle? I thought he looked a staying chaser tbh

I think Lulamba will win the Ryanair next year, step up in trip is a must. I think Il Etait Temps will try and win it again. Gaelic Warrior will definitely go for the Gold Cup and Fact Of File is 50/50 on which race he goes for.

What makes you think that the Elliot horses will run to form at this meeting, next year?

Hi jamesRB

I was also thinking the same thing about Final Demand, I think he could approve with the extra distances. So it's a good E/W bet, but just remember Paul Townsend will be on Gaelic Warrior.

I thought Final Demand had a chance of winning before I saw Gaelic Warrior win the Gold Cup. Woow that was a performance, could see him winning again.

Kopek Des Bordes is one of the bankers and at 5/1, I've backed him already. I've put him in a Lucky and Double. Again not big bets, because anything can happen from now.

Jasmin will have a massive chance, if fit and ready.

But I have this feeling The New Lion will go for the Stayers Hurdle. He not a 2 miler, he needs a step up in trip. I can't see him going over fences, so 25/1 I had to take a small chance E/W.

I would not be surprised if the first 3 in the Gold Cup, are the same in 2027. My one Cheltenham regret this year was not to think to do the Gold Cup Tricast. I did not know which order they would finish in, but I would have got the any correct. I think Inothewayurthinkin would have got closer too Gaelic Warrior on better ground. By the time the Gold Cup was run, ironically or not for Fact To File supporters the ground had started to churn up. I have had a free bet £1.50 ew on Inothewayurthinkin at 25/1 (365). I think this year Inothewayurthinkin had to be ridden with restraint, as it looked to me he had lossed confidence in jumping, and Mark Walsh had to be deliberate at the fences. Hopefully he will regain that as he gets older, I will be also looking to do Jango Baie at 10/1 and Gaelic Warrior at 4/1. In the hope that all three arrive safely next year.

Thoughts:

Each way this far out is a big no no.

Maddie's Bambino Fever pic is interesting, that's way too big....maybe she goes chasing.

I can't touch a Barry Connell horse ante-post, he's poor at getting them to the dance.

I would generally agree that ew this far in advance is a no, certainly not at single figures. But at 25/1, I don't see there is any harm as the outlay is far less, if you are looking to win a certain amount on a race.

'Fez Syndrome' is a 21st Century curse, rendering the afflicted incapable of rational thought the other 361 days of the year - and it's often incurable."
