    Breeding and Bloodstock Sales

No, we're giving Connie a year off. With no stud fee this year, a group of us have a couple of PK geldings who recently turned 2. Breeding and looks suggest NH careers and the plan is to keep them for a year when we'll take a view on whether they go to France for early 3yo hurdles or are kept...

    Breeding and Bloodstock Sales

A question for breeding buffs. What do you think of Persian King as a potential NH stallion? Has produced decent progeny on the flat and his very small sample size over jumps has an early high hit rate. His best winners on the flat tend to be at about 10f but he has plenty at 12f so 2 miles...

    Time to give up?

One of our Cheltenham group had a day where every horse that he backed failed to complete including a faller in the bumper.

Cheers Slim. Info coincided with a couple of time limited free bets. Well done and Happy New Year to you and yours.

The 2025 King George VI Chase

Only an opinion but I'd be inclined to side with recent history and go with the forecast that KG form will not be a good pointer for the Gold Cup. Be interesting (but meaningless) what the handicapper does. Historically he's over-rated the result but you'd have to think that he should base it...

The 2025 King George VI Chase

Good course form is a positive. Poor course form is a negative. Lack of a run at the course clearly isn't a positive but neither can it be considered a negative. For all the multiple winners, I imagine you can find a matching course debut winner like Hewick or Tornado Flyer who both beat a...

    Christmas Songs

As this thread has been resurrected, I thought that I'd mention that it's exactly 50 years since I Believe in Father Christmas was kept off number one by the appalling Bohemian Rhapsody. Now that is a sobering thought on the passage of time.

The 2025 King George VI Chase

The vibes before the Durkan were that Gaelic Warrior was fitter or at least working better than Fact To File. It's a tiny difference to turn around so, for me, the reverse forecast is the way to go as I don't see Jango in the same class. Still plenty of time for things to change though.

    Leopardstown Christmas Meeting

With a view to the future, always worth noting Willie's declarations for the maiden hurdles that start the meeting. 4yo - Leader d'Allier 5yo+ - Doctor du Mesnil

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Our son of Mahler, Rehill Relic, runs at Huntingdon tomorrow. Be nice in more ways than one if he can give his old man a valedictory victory.

    Kempton Park, "change" and "tradition"

When the original 'Kempton closing' story started up, I seem to remember being in the minority on here in not really caring as long as the incoming money was used to promote racing across the board rather than piling more money in at the top end. I'll admit to not having been for a few years...

    Tony Bloom

If you remove 5 players the match will stop as, according to the regulations, "A match may not start or continue if either team has fewer than seven players."

    Jp macmanus

I read the original question as to whether he breeds any winners or just buys them. I have no idea if there are tax breaks for unsuccessful studs. As a punter, it has always amused me that some coups are condemned and some are lauded. Presumably, this is on the back of whether Joe Bloggs got...
