Not too shabby yesterday : a couple placed in my Ew L15.
Today's more interesting to me, given the chases on view.
I have no noted horses running. Well, not quite true. Breeze Of Wind (14.22 Bangor)is one that proved very profitable last season. However, I feel that there maybe another target on the cards for this gelding. I think he's a proper stayer and maybe some sort of National may be in the plans, certainly over longer than this 3m, which is the point. I shall pass him over today.
The three I quite like today, in a 'lightly pencilled' way., are:
Ultra Beet - 2.22 Bangor 11/1
They're not wasting any time in popping this one over fences, are they? After only five rules races they eschew the handicap hurdle route and place him in this handicap chase. First chase, first handicap. This must be worth a shout, given his breeding and profile. A good blow - out and promising, this. Ran on late after jumping well, I thought. Placed
Betterforeveryone - 2.35 Chepstow 14/1
A class 4 but no great shakes, this race, and my choice looks reasonably treated. He's another lightly-raced sort who may show some improvement as a second-season chaser. Looked to be quite a lazy type, I thought and not so sure I like the cut of his jib enough to follow. Placed, though so that was good
Range - 3.10 Chepstow 5/1
I have a feeling that they may think a lot of this one. Another who has raced sparingly so far (only seven races and this is his first chase), they've put him in here in a class 3 handicap chase. Well, this in itself gives the impression that he may be considered to be a smart recruit to the chasing ranks. Certainly bred for the job, although, ideally, he'd want further. I do think this might well have won but for just overjumping the first in the home straight and coming down after the fence. He jumped very nicely and he's one I'll keep a good eye on for he will improve when stepped up in trip. A shame the fall robbed me of my final patent framing. Still a little profit, though.
