A good many Prestbury Park posers for us to unravel today.

Once again, I look at the fields, where we are in the season, the going and I, once again, sing the refrain about, for the most part, keeping my hands in my pockets. I'll have an Ew L15, once more, and throw in a 'shortie' double.

Leader In The Park - Cheltenham1.45 5/1 Ew
A novice handicap chase: the sort of race I love. Looking at this, I'm drawn the breeding and the low weight; that's a good price.

Roll With It - Fontwell 2.05 9/2 Ew
So, what's the story? Well, although he's never raced over this tricky chase circuit before, he has won at Cartmel and Market Rasen, both quite tight tracks. Still lightly - raced, this step up into marathon country could well reap dividends. The breeding is hard to fathom, to be honest so a bit of a stab in the Fontwell dark here. I wonder if my intuition will be correct. It should be noted that the trainer has drawn a blank on all five of his Fontwell starts.

Does He Know - Cheltenham 2.55 5/1 Ew (single bet, too)
If I was to have one bet today, it would be this fellow. I must confess to being a big fan of Kim Bailey as a trainer of chasers and he does enjoy a good measure of success with his chasers here. I should add that he's won this race before on good ground. Last time out he ran a stormer, I think, for a first run; he jumped really well up with the leaders in a race that looks a cut above what we have on offer here. I know he'll stay, I know he'll jump and could probably surmise that this is a target for him and, as such, tells us they might even be trying. I would've thought that Monbeg will be primed for the Hennessey and Nassalam's target will be the Welsh National. Manofthepeople looks a live threat.

Titintin - Cheltenham - 3.30 40/1 Ew
What do I know about hurdlers? Not a lot, as you know. However, couldn't resist having a little Greatwood nibble and have come acros this unlikely ew selection. 'Unlikely'? The stable runs the favourite, whose chances connections are trumpeting. I've been around long enough not to be overly influenced by these press puffs and have backed TTT on the strength of his Swinton Hurdle run last back-end. The winner was out of sight and gone that day but it was a very fast-run race and TTT ran on up to the post and is a Cheltenham c/d in a race that registered a decent time.

1 x Ew single
Ew L15

Two 'shorties':

Matata - Cheltenham 2.20 6/4
West Orchard - Fontwell 12.55 7/4
Win double

That's my lot for the day. As long as I get a good run for my little bets, I'll be happy.

Well, what to say about West Orchard: going like the winner on the final circuit until he decides to put down at the fence in the back straight. That ruined everything for him and he never recovered for that at a crucial part of the race. Annoying the way he ran on at the post when all too late.

I'm hoping that it's jumping that will see Matata win today.

I'm very suspicious of those boosts.

It hasn't stopped me backing something before but it does pretty much always temper any enthusiasm.

well, the boost is all very well if you back a winner but, as you can see, today will not be my day. That last chase at Cheltenham wasn't exactly top-notch, was it yet my Leader In The Park ran like a pig, didn't he?

I don't think I've ever used the 'Boost' that's on offer. It will probably state in the rules that it disqualifies you from BOG if you use it.

They were exaggerated waiting tactics on Roll With It, eh? In the end he didn't stay.

That kind of day, by the looks of it.

In running I had a little bet on the winner. It was showing 9/2. When I pressed t to bet, it showed me 4/1. I put it on and when I returned to see the price?-9/2 again. Hmmm.

Didn't stop him, did it. Or Matata although Gunsight Ridge looked a live danger, didn't he, before tipping over? That looked to be a fast race to me: I'll have to check the time.

the time says different to my impressions. A race of two halves , perhaps. the first half dawdling, the second sprinting.. In the first half, they seemed to be going about 26-7mph but I suppose that must constitute a steady pace. Towards the end they were hitting 35mph which is flatspeed.
