Yes, it's Polytrack 2 Tapeta 1 today in the world of racing and personally I cannot wait.

Lingfield Park and Chelmsford City on the Polytrack "dahn sarf" (broadly speaking) and Newcastle on Tapeta "Oop Norf" (and unequivocally so).

I like and bet on many forms of racing in many countries - where there's niches (viewing it through my Blighty prism as niche to me can be local and mainstream to others) there's edges - so get a grip, myopic Turf only and/or Jumps only fans, cheer up and eat an Easter egg (though I won't be buying any until they're virtually giving them away next Tuesday.

Happy Easter!

Any trainer that sends out a non-trier at Newcastle, given the incredible money on offer, should be dragged out on to the streets and machine-gunned.

Only the races for 4yos and older interest me and I've lit on the following:

3.00 Destructive (Popmaster)
3.35 Willem Twee (Saint Lawrence)
4.07 Smart Hero (Claymore)
4.42 Roaring Legend (Circuit Breaker)

I’ll be looking at the higher-drawn horses in the sprints at Newcastle. I see the 15 horse won the first at 9/2.

We’re talking 75p ew bets today.

That went well.

Not.

Either the majority of the runners today weren't trying a leg, in which case you have to wonder what on earth gets into trainers' minds, or we have seen display after display of ineptitude on the part of jockeys. I have to suspect the latter.

Note to self: leave the AW well alone in future.

It was a rainy day here and I thought the racing was very enjoyable but I wouldn't be putting down serious money.

So, Claymore's stable companion wins it.

I watched Claymore and it was given a most gentle ride by Hollie. Looking at that run, where no serious question was asked and the horse still ran on to be nearest finish, It's an alert job: 10f AW or turf. Well handicapped, too.

Very diplomatic, yorick...

No serious money involved. Just a very small ew yankee on the main selections and small ew singles on the others.

Thank goodness...

I was out most of the afternoon and only watched the replays.

My opinions are almost certainly coloured by my studies of the races beforehand - I wouldn't say it was pocket-talking because the bets were so minor - but I was very taken aback by the number of poor tactical rides and lack of effort from the saddle by a very substantial number of riders.

I reckon I had a much better afternoon at the solemn church service...

For the First time in over a decade I was in a shop with my wife this afternoon -never again.

Just in: Maurice spends his (Long) Good Friday evening having a chat with some of the jockeys he felt misjudged the pace earlier today, thus knackering his Bank Holiday multiple....

Maurice: "who's having a go at me? Can you think of anyone with an old score to settle?"

Ian: "Get out of here, who's big enough to take you on?"

Maurice: "There was a few!"

Ian: "Like who?"

Maurice: "Yeah, they're all dead."
