Not a sure runner, but Rashabar is still in there, after the latest forfeit stage. 20s + 25s in a place, I think is a bit of value.
That form of the 2yo G1 on Arc day looks pretty good now. Satisfactory return in the Greenham, where Jonquil hardly let the form down, when touched off in the French Guineas.
Favourite is a ridiculous price !

I was at Newbury when Kingman sauntered home in the Greenham and at Newmarket when he got done by Night Of Thunder in a fascinating 2,000 Guineas inasmuch as only 6.75l covered the first 11 home but the form turned out to be very strong.

Kingman didn't get an ill-judged ride that day, but the ground was plenty quick enough for him and he subsequently won the Irish 2,000 Guineas in cold blood.

He's not my price, but tbh I expect Field Of Gold to do the same.

I think it was a good renewal at Newmarket and he really should have won it.

No harm in an each-way thieving bet against an odds-on jolly, though, so long as you're getting three places! 😂

I had a minor interest in Rashabar a/p for Nwm at 33s so I need to have some sickness insurance on him... :(

Not gonna lie, I'm gutted there's no "The 2025...." prefix to this thread title.

How will I know which Irish 2,000 Guineas we were talking about in future years?

No one ever thinks about what suits me (except me - I think about what suits me all the time 😂).

Just ignore me (again 😂) - cracking thread with an interesting colt put up.

Rashabar just getting beat at Longchamp on Arc day last year cost me a packet. I had the 80/1 winner earlier on the card, plus a Gosden horse at 10s in the yankee. I would have been well in four figures profit if Rashy had prevailed.

Story of my life.

Rashabar was my big win at Ascot last year having spotted him running so well at Chester (for a big horse) and I knew he'd be better on a straight course. I openly flagged him up on here too IIRC which is unusual for me!

So I love the horse. I was going to suggest that he looks physically less of a miler than some of the others but checking out his pedigree his dam's line is pretty stout German breeding.

Love Officer's breeding - by Dubawi out of Hydrangea.

I like Scorthy Champ (currently 14/1) for an ew punt, cos it won the Curragh Vincent O'Brien National Flat Stakes 7f Group1 15/09/2024, and since 2000 , 23 runners have gone from that race to the following Curragh Irish 2000 Guineas and 7 (30.4%) have won and 10 (43.5%) have won or placed, also within that group are 9 winners of the Vincent O'Brien race and 6 (66.7%) of those won the following Irish 2000 Guineas.

Now I've seen the final declarations I think appreciably different ground to that which he encountered on the Rowley Mile in the Craven and the 2,000 Guineas is possibly the only thing that can stop Field Of Gold.

Interesting the same crew (Juddmonte) run two against him, though.

Windlord might well be in as a pacemaker for him, but Cosmic Year could have waited for the Jersey and they've gone to the trouble of getting Oisin Murphy to ride it.

Field Of Gold's no certainty,imo.
Out thought in the Guineas, and could prove tactically vulnerable again.
Reckon Windlord wears the pieces to make the pace, and Cosmic Year will bring home the bacon.
Cosy winner of his Rowley prep,he was considered not to have handled the dip well, which is good reason for being at the Curragh, accompanied by OM.

Field Of Gold is obviously the one to beat but isn't my kind of betting material.

Cosmic Year strikes me as the best alternative but he'd need to win the race to make backing him ew viable. I might check out the bettng without the favourite but it's an easy race to leave alone.

Would like Field of Gold to win this and then bypass Ascot the Eclipse stakes as I have him in a double with OKC (NBA)

I'm more interested in the Group 1 on Sunday and I was trying to work out if Ghostwriter was a bet in it. He ran ok at Meydan first time out but he doesn't win much although he's been facing better oppo in general than he's up against this weekend. On the face of it his run in the ICS was disappointing but he pace chased that day and said pace did collapse. In fact, I noticed something reading the form that got me mildly excited even though I'm a form man and definitely not a time bandit. That day at Leop (ignoring Hans Anderson who was last)

1 Economics.....mid div on outer - 41.32 top speed reached 2nd
2 A Rodin.........rear of mid div - 41.03 5th
3. Shin Emp.....tracked leaders - 41.01 6th
4. Los Angel.....towards read - 40.91 8th
5. Ghostwriter ..tracked leader - 41.18 4th
6. Luxembourg..led - 41.64 1st
7. Royal Rhyme..tracked leader - 41.30 3rd

So Los Angeles top speed was the slowest in the entire race and the fastest was Luxembourg. That indicates pace collapse to me and I think it makes LA opposable on Sunday

The race that holds the most interest for me over the weekend is Sunday's 1505 Curragh Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1) 4yo+ : Prize Money £243801.65

It has some really strong trial race trends i.e. since 2000, 16 horses have gone from the Longchamp Prix De L Arc De Triomphe Flat Stakes 1m 4f Group1 in Oct, and 10 (62.5%) have won and 12 (75%) have won or placed. Runners on Sunday that have come from and their positions in the Arc, Al Riffa (11), Continuous (JPN)(15), Los Angeles (3)

Another worthy 2000 Guineas each way or place only punt is Rashabar (currently as high as 18/1), cos it won the Ascot Coventry Flat Stakes 6f Group2 18/06/2024, and since 2000, 19 runners have gone from that race to the following Curragh Irish 2000 Guineas and 5 (26.3%) have won and 10 (52.6%) have won or placed, also within that group are 4 winners of the Coventry Stakes and 3 (75%) of those won the following Irish 2000 Guineas.

AOB on Racing TV said Expanded likely to be withdrawn if no rain in next hour. Being a bit of a cynic, had a little on him at 28/1, which I should get back if it doesn’t rain!
