The 2025 Royal Ascot Tuesday Thread

Looks an out and out sprinter to me. What do you think?
Proper sprinter - by Starpangledbanner and a half brother to Vandeek.
But such a good performance considering he was in the wrong part of the track pace wise and came away from those around him.

I also had a last minute ew on Coppull as I needed to see it first and I love a Clive Cox 2yo here.

I actually thought Docklands was not a good price. Thought he should have been 25s. Great for connections - he's a better trainer than his dad for sure.
But agree with DO - a damp squib to start. Agree with you there, Slim - perhaps pacemakers should definitely have been employed. Hannon sounds gutted.
Agree in that I didn’t fancy Docklands, even at 25’s. However, I don’t like the idea of pacemakers and all horses are supposed to run on their own merits. It was still a race and maybe the best horse in the circumstances of how it was run, won (Rosallion perhaps a bit unlucky though). That’s the beauty of horse racing: the uncertainty.

Normally I like a surprise result, but this one was no good for me.

The mare sold for 800 after her racing career.

I do agree with your comment but not when the pace of the race is not what you expect with a group 1 race. These races should be producing horses that are good enough to be the next generation of stallions.

Normally if one I've backed doesn't run I take it as money saved but I'm more than miffed that Mgheera didn't run there. I can't help thinking she might have put that lot to bed.

I've always had a high opinion of American Affair and he's done me a few turns in the last year but I just didn't see this coming.

Well done anyone who backed him. He's a grand warrior.

Now that was a proper race
Proper pace
The best horse of the year won
And he should have won at Newmarket

Did you see the state of First Wave? He couldn't go the first furlong pace

Ruling Court proves you can't be trained for a Derby and then revert to a mile.

The winner has to go to Goodwood. Absolutely no need to go 10f until York.

... the first 5f of the SJP course is on the round track which wouldn't be as fast anyway as the rest of the course, plus it's uphill so I can't see it being too much of an issue, at least today, and it did beat standard time at the Curragh so the ground must have been on the fast side that day.

For me it's definitely the percentage call but whether it is betting material might be another matter.

At last, a proper G1 horse. Brilliant winner.

It's really interesting listening to Murtagh and Weaver discuss the race about its all very well being on the best horse but you have to give it the best ride and this is so apparent here. As they said, he kept it smooth, had the horse underneath him and didn't disappoint him. That's how it's done - not like in the Guineas.

A really poor ride. He should have switched out after a mile.

The Tony Bloom horse was some joke of a price. He was never going to stay that trip based on the formbook.

Dammit my two were mullered there! Enfjaar and Haunted Dream straight into tracker after that
