The 2025 Royal Ascot Tuesday Thread

I don't agree. He travelled very strongly and had no where to go. Stayers don't quicken. They need to be in a rhythm.
He had no out at any point. Had to ride for luck.
He did travel easily and would have won with a clear run.

The pace was a joke - shambles of a race.
Watching it I was thinking - Cauthen or Piggott would have taken the race by the scruff of the neck if they had been on Lead Artist or Dancing Gemini - if the pace was too slow for their rides they made it unless it was a horse that had to be held up .

Was it Bob Back defeated both Comanche Run and another fancy one when 20/1; Lester and co got caught napping also; not very often but it happened.
A great mix of trainers, jockeys and owners successful on day 1; Joseph must be the only one wringing his hands, not that he has much time to.
Remember Aidan and himself and staff are up supervising their horses work at home from 4am all week , flying to the races, walking the track, discussing tactics, saddling, schmoosing owners, press etc before flying home and starting again at 4am the following day; all week.

It's a tough life...

Lester rode Commanche Run - Cauthen on Pebbles - they did play cat and mouse with each other and Raymond and Bob Back caught them . As I recall they both beat Bob Back easily later in the season .

However, I cannot see either of them riding the " after you sir" crawling along race that most of the jockeys rode in the Queen Anne yesterday.

Fav all dressed up and nowhere to go there
Willie Mullins has been quoted that " hopefully Reaching High will be back for the same race next year ". He's currently showing as the 6/1 favourite for the Northumberland Plate a week tomorrow. If he's too successful he'll be outside the 0 - 100 handicap range for the Ascot Stakes - 101 and 102-rated horses probably get to run - and he might end up running in the Gold Cup instead. I can't see them wanting to run down the field to protect the handicap mark for a race a year away.

Field Of Gold really was a buzz to watch. As was Ombudsman.

A smash up in York would be nice. Make it happen Mr G.

Decent ground, plenty of pace on. Who wins?

He will go to Goodwood first. Should take care of them easy enough.

It's the anticipation of York and the trip. Also what takes him on. The POW winner was brilliant. May not happen but would love a smash up between the two. Others will have a say too.

Talking of Goodwood. Connections of French Master have said he'll have a crack at the Goodwood Cup.
Very interesting, how good was he on Tuesday!

Probably though with a proper gallop Rosallion and Notable Speech may be tougher nuts to crack than the St James's Palace field especially once Ruling Court did not turn up.

How bad is Lake Victoria's injury ? She might be more of a handful.

Think he'll win easy whatever the pace angle and whoever turns up.
Not sure when the filly returns but assume Henri will have another crack.

Mr G just needs to make York happen. Highly unlikely I know, you can but hope.
