Todays Racing -----England--Ireland

That was a shame that Regents took off like a scalded cat. To his credit he did keep on under a tender ride latter stages (sensibly from a mental point of view for the horse) and I dearly wish they can get him to settle as he's got an engine. Maybe stick the hood back on.

Like the look of American Mike myself today Jinny.
A fair run but suspect he could possibly do with some tweaking to his wind. They already run him in a tongue tie so for me it's the obvious thing to do next.

Just listened to Cobden who was very disappointed with Regents Stroll - said he thinks the ring bit will go back on. Amazed they took it off to be honest.

I'm not 'Arry's biggest fan to be honest but I don't think you will split them up in a hurry

So I've had a little mooch over today's card at Newbury and here are a few thoughts:

Act of Innocence - think this could be a very nice horse and Hendo likes this race.
Nice One Eric ew (as I think the Bens don' tilt at windmills - Our Boy Stan for instance)

Mambonumberfive - liked this a lot when hurdling and it won OK last timet too

Highland Crystal has to be the pick but I think Katie O'Riley ran a pretty solid race last time at Chelters

Regents Stroll - always couldn't wait to see him over fences - plus he gave lovely cuddles last week

American Mike - have a feeling he's well handicapped and could improve for a switch in yards

Impose Toi - always thought they liked this horse a lot

Punctuation - bit of a Hendo day for me but his horses are running better and I have a feeling this horse could be a nice ew price
FOUR Winners two placed not a bad days work JinnyJ :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader: Bring on tomorrows selections :cheers:

Thanks - but to be honest it was a pretty easy picking day! Disappointed that Regents Stroll let himself down - he's top class if he chills.
Punctuation too ran a flat race as though they were just going through the motions.
Katie O'Riley didn't really progress as I'd hoped and may need a stiff course.

Right - on to tomorrow to unravel a very tricky Hennessy (It will always be that!!)

Not so much of a confident day today and rapid ground changes make me far more cautious.

I've picked out a few though:
Newbury
Brave Kingdom (Course winner, had a wind op and Nicholls also keeping his weight down with another on top weight)
Tutti Quanti - very positive write up in the Stable tour on ATR
Newcastle
Hamsiyann - will become my cliff horse at this rate
Jasmine de Grugy
Hold that Thought - Venetia, blinkered first time, will think it's loose with that weight plus she targets this race - what's not to like?

I've just watched the first from Fairyhouse which was a beginner's chase won nicely by Jimmy du Seuil (Patrick Mullins 900th winner) from The Big Westerner.

But it was just a four horse race cos the bulk of the jockeys just ignored the front four and anchored their horses 15-20 lengths off the leaders and there they stayed. Why are there not enquiries into that sort of riding? It was blatantly obvious the rest were just on a run round to get some jumping experience.

Absolutely! I was looking for The Wallpark who was a big price as he hadn't jumped well last time on his chase debut. He put in a few iffy jumps early and then just stayed where he was.

^^ with me it tends to be backing my fancy then going onto the place market to find I've backed another horse which was (eg 2nd from top) where I expected mine to be

I'm sure you get the gist

📝 FULL RACE SUMMARY
This Class 4 seven-furlong handicap has a typically competitive look to it, though a closer inspection of recent form, draw position, and suitability to Kempton’s Standard-to-Slow Polytrack surface reveals a more defined picture. The early shape of the race appears clear: there should be no hanging about, with several habitual pace-forcers drawn low and middle likely to ensure a solid tempo from the gates. That sets things up beautifully for a classy traveller who can slot in behind the speed and pounce turning for home.
Silver Samurai is that very type, arriving here with the most compelling all-round profile. He possesses the tactical speed to secure a handy pitch, travels powerfully when in rhythm, and has previously shown a sharp turn of foot at this trip when conditions fall in his favour. His draw allows him to obtain cover without being trapped wide, and he has enough early toe to avoid getting shuffled back. Behind him, the likes of Arctician, Kit Gabriel, and United Approach arrive with credible claims, each bringing solid form and a running style suited to how this should unfold, but all require either a perfect run or a collapse in pace ahead of them.
Those looking to dominate from the front may pay the price late, as Kempton’s 7f often rewards the well-positioned stalker rather than the all-out leader. Several rivals have questions to answer on surface, draw or overall consistency, and only a handful boast the balance of pace, stamina, and track craft needed in a race of this nature.
When the dust settles, the race looks primed for a horse who can travel in the first wave, conserve energy, and then press the button at precisely the right moment — and one candidate fits that description better than the rest.

⭐️ FINAL SELECTION: SILVER SAMURAI 16/1

Silver Samurai stands out as the most complete package in this contest, combining proven ability at the trip with the tactical attributes ideally suited to Kempton’s 7f configuration. He travels strongly behind a genuine pace, has the gears to quicken when asked, and crucially, boasts previous peak efforts on all-weather surfaces that exceed what any of his rivals have achieved. His draw gives his rider multiple tactical options — he can press forward to take a position or slot in and bide his time. Importantly, he is the type who finds off the bridle, responding generously once asked to lengthen.
In a field where several key rivals either rely on a collapsing pace or risk covering extra ground, Silver Samurai brings the perfect mix of efficiency, balance, and finishing strength. His profile suggests he will get first run on the closers, and his ability to sustain a powerful final furlong gives him a decisive edge. If he runs to his typical level, he sets a standard that should prove beyond the reach of this opposition.
