Irish Sunday Racing Thread

I'm loathed to disagree with you, with the form that you're in, Ian.

I think Slurricane is very interesting. He was 7 lengths or thereabouts behind the favourite at Cheltenham and my gosh is he weighted to reverse that form. How much better off is he, about a stone? Slurricane hung right handed that day too so a right handed track like Fairyhouse could suit. Best or luck with your fella, I'll chuck a reverse forecast in for good measure, as it's obviously that time of the year.

I'm probably getting too giddy with excitement but, suitably emboldened by today's events in Berkshire, might 16/1 Luker's Tipple in the 3.10 at Fairyhouse tomorrow be fair?

He's never actually won a race, but I thought he ran rather well "in" a place called Navan "the last day" (check me out with my Irish race speak) and might "trouble the judge" (ok, it's a fair cop, that was a cliche too far).

I'd better get off the thread before he notices I gatecrashed it.

Some lads guess, others know, but some pull off the ridiculous and can do what the f%*& they like!

There's a lovely 3m6f handicap chase at 1.05 - why wasn't YFUSA told about this?

Few appreciate how one can miss things as one gets older plus there are memory lapses - for example, it's increasingly clear that YFUSA has completely forgotten how to lose!

Anyway, YFUSA's a bit worried his exotic dividends will crash if he keeps putting them out there in the public domain (which is full of unscrupulous people like, well, YFUSA, with the Old School Tricast Gentlemen Lens all too few and far between).

So YFUSA will confine himself to two words - no, not THOSE two words - "Beaufort" and "Scale."

Don't cheapen the thread by asking for reasoning - YFUSA does occasional sample meals, not recipes - and anyway Slim detests essays almost as much as he detests YFUSA (and rightly so).

What a race!

may interest some............

12:05 Fairyhouse – Ladies Handicap Chase (2m5½f, Yielding to Soft)

This looks a competitive mid-range handicap chase where stamina and efficient jumping will be required on ground easing with persistent light rain. The pace map suggests several who like to be handy, so a solid gallop appears likely, and that should favour those who travel comfortably in a prominent position without doing too much early.

Vaureal arrives with the strongest recent performance figures, combining a high level of chase ability with a running style ideally suited to today’s pace setup. His balance of cruising speed and finishing effort marks him out as the most reliable profile.

Chosen Diamond also scores extremely well on overall ability and looks capable of going close if the leaders go an even pace.

Soloman Lane may represent a touch of value — an experienced chaser who stays this trip well and handles the ground.

⭐️ Best Bet: Vaureal
⭐️ Best Each-Way: Soloman Lane

🏇 13:05 Fairyhouse – Porterstown Handicap Chase (3m6f Listed, Yielding to Soft)

A gruelling extreme-distance handicap over the Porterstown trip demands class, stamina, and rhythm over fences, particularly with a breezy headwind on parts of the circuit. Horses who race handily often hold an advantage here due to the difficulty of making sustained late ground in the conditions.

Verdant Place possesses a strong staying profile and excellent recent figures. His ability to race prominently, maintain his stride, and jump efficiently under pressure makes him a major player. The long trip is well within his range and the slight softening of the ground enhances his chance.

Will Do has long shaped as a thorough stayer and also races prominently; his consistency and big-run profile put him firmly in the mix.

Nine Graces is another with enough tactical speed and stamina to feature, though may need a well-judged ride.

Brucejack, while less obvious, has the right running style for the race and could stay on into the frame at a price.

⭐️ Best Bet: Verdant Place
⭐️ Best Each-Way: Brucejack

🏇 15:11 Fairyhouse – BAR 1 Casino Handicap Hurdle (Listed, 2m, Yielding to Soft)

A sharp, tactical Listed handicap hurdle over two miles where speed, positioning, and hurdle fluency will be decisive. The ground, while not testing, will place an emphasis on horses able to travel strongly and quicken from a solid position turning in.

Puturhandstogether brings a notably strong blend of recent form, speed figures, and tactical pace. His ability to settle in midfield and deliver a sustained late effort suits this test, and he holds the most complete profile for the race.

Zillow emerges as the main threat. A natural forward-going type with a high ability rating, he should be well positioned throughout and is capable of giving the principals plenty to think about.

Bottler’s Secret is another of interest, shaping as one who can run well if maintaining rhythm throughout.

⭐️ Best Bet: Puturhandstogether
⭐️ Best Each-Way: Zillow

Bowensonfire - 3.11 Fairyhouse.

I really thought they'd be stepping this one up in trip not back after his run behind French ship. But he's certainly been well enough punted today to suggest Ive also got that wrong. Im starting to see a running theme here 🤔

My note on him was this after his last run:

This was run at a good clip and this fellow came cruising approaching the 2nd last but, in truth, he flattened out thereafter and it looks like 2m at a fast pace might be the answer. He’ll go up at least 4Lbs for this but he jumped well, I thought. Given he’s been racing since May, it may be that they’ll give him a break and come back in the spring. Who knows?

Hasn't risen but dropped 2Lbs

Bowensonfire last at the second last but comes with a wet sail when all over. Says it all for anything I pick at the moment. 😖

Think that must of had loads in hand as it was wide and wouldn't settle ( Got Newbury'd at Fairyhouse) but still wouldve won.

Could see Bowensonfire with head gear and a shot at the County Hurdle but needs a break now, I think.
Not sure I agree with further, Danny. That wasn't a fast race there.
