    The Dewhurst

Get the strong impression that Cecil doesn't fancy the Derby route with this horse - and who can blame him? Surely way too exuberant and way too much pace for a Derby? Now, the July Cup on the other hand.....

    The Dewhurst

I don't keep speed figures, EC1, but I am capable of looking at a number of different ratings and drawing my own conclusions from them. I'm not suggesting that Frankel has recorded the fastest times in the history of juvenile racing. What I am saying is that he has recorded very fast times (and...

    The Dewhurst

Courtesy of our Simon Rowlands There were three races over the round mile at Ascot on Saturday, and the hand-taken sectionals for the principals from them make for interesting reading. Royal Lodge Stakes FRANKEL 101.73 sec overall (35.5 sec final 3f) 107.5% finishing speed (+20 lb sectional...

    The Dewhurst

No - I'm not taking any time off anything... It was a Group 2 class time (and, arguably, better than any time Dream Ahead has recorded) achieved virtually on the bridle. That, in my opinion, is the mark of an exceptional horse. Mr Rowlands will also tell you that the final 2f sectional at...

    The Dewhurst

Fair enough - Professor Whitley likes the Doncaster time. Whatever, given the ridiculous ease of victory at Donny, it was a hell of a time?

    The Dewhurst

HE has achieved a better speed figure than Dream Ahead - on the bridle (at Doncaster). Although the Racing Post have been ramping up the gallop reports in the last couple of days, I can't have Frankel as a hype horse - his last two performances have been absolutely exceptional - and the clock...

    Racing For Change

Don't know what the big fuss is regarding the ground and the British Champions Day. We had soft ground at Longchamp last Sunday, yet it didn't stop top class horses turning up and providing a fantastic day's racing? And - on the one hand we have people claiming that the Champions Stakes round...

    Arc 2010

Anyone know where Await The Dawn is likely to run next?

    Casela Park

Fair enough. Still - think incompetence is just as big a runner as skullduggery here tbh

    Casela Park

Was a pretty amazing sight, although not one that had me instantly crying foul... The horse seemed to be making life very difficult for the jockey, his head was all over the place - and is the jockey perhaps just not very good? Don't know much about him in fairness....

    Findlay Warned off for 6mths

I'd be amazed if anyone contrbuting to that site didn't feel that Betfair could do a lot better job of promoting it.

    Findlay Warned off for 6mths

Some of the blogs on Betfair are indeed very good (if you can find them), but the layout, linking and promotion of the whole betting.betfair site has been appalling imo - I genuinely feel sorry for the contributors. Betfair will be completely wasting their time and money on Nicholls unless...

    Findlay Warned off for 6mths

Nicholls is writing for Betfair now - and getting paid plenty for it by all accounts. Can't see how Betfair will be recouping that money through increased activity - seems like they are just paying for the pleasure of pi**ing on the RP's parade...

    King George (Ascot)

Some people are suggesting Harbinger is a better horse than STS. Not quite sure Harbinger's victory is "clearly" better than anything STS achieved, either. As GS points out, STS's Eclipse run was exceptional and there were more top class horses running to form behind him than were in evidence...

    King George (Ascot)

Easy to argue for hours on end about what rating the horse deserves, but whatever number you come up with, I still think that Harbinger has a fair way to go before he can be considered the superior of Sea The Stars. STS may not have produced a time quite as strong as Harbinger's yesterday, but...

    King George (Ascot)

... on the basis that I think Youmzain runs miles below his best every time he shows up at Ascot. Workforce was beaten all the way round so we can ignore him. Very, very good from HArbinger, but can't buy 142.

Sounds quite high to me 142...

    Curragh Weekend

Looking unlikely runner unfotunately, Rory. Yard don't want to send him over on G/F - so that is probably that :(

Really? The forecast I looked at seemed dry until Sunday...

    The 2000 Guineas (and beyond)

Serious money. We had several bets of 4 or 5 figures being offered up yesterday and today at 6-4, 11-8 and 5-4. My guess is Tabor and the boys are getting as much as they possibly can on at odds against. Fascinating there has been no real hype from Coolmore about this horse - no second hand car...
