    Toys Out Of The Pram?

Nail on head, relkeel If the bookmakers couldn't accept bets on the "missing races" things might be a little different, but the fact that punters will get shows and commentaries (and don't forget all the C4 and BBC races) mean that turnover won't suffer dramatically, if at all. The fact is...

    Toys Out Of The Pram?

It will come down to who needs who more though, Richard. I would guess that TurfTV cannot not survive without the Big Three bookmakers buying their product. On the other hand, Horse Racing is becoming less and less important to the bottom line of the big bookmakers - a fact that seems to have...

    Toys Out Of The Pram?

I can't see how Turf TV are in a strong position at all. Ladbrokes, Hills and Corals will all have 8 million + a year wiped off their balance sheets if they sign up to Turf TV - good luck selling that project to them. The SIS tracks plus the televised terrestrial racing (in addition to...

    The Great Global Warming Swindle

Is it the general consensus though, or is it just that scientists who claim they can link things to global warming get more funding/media coverage etc and therefore people assume it is the general consensus?

A bit to do on the figures imo, but stall 1 will help ~ as will the fact that the favourite is out in stall 10 - certainly wouldn't put anyone off each way. Best of luck anyway....

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

I have a question regarding the Juddmonte mares... Do they tend to enter their mares in the sale, then withdraw the ones they decide to keep themselves as broodmares? (i.e would the withdrawn mares be strictly "not for sale"?) .... or would the withdrawals possibly be due to something else?

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

Interesting to see how the average prices are comparing to last year Average Prices Day 1: 51.8k (2005) 94.5k (2006) +82% Day 2: 91.1k (2005) 135.5k (2006) +49% Day 3: 52.5k (2005) 65.9k (2006) +26% Admittedly the 2006 averages have been pushed up a bit by the two "big" purchases, but even...

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

No luck here - not even close - it really seems to be a sellers market at the moment and I cant imagine how some people think they will make the money back on some of these mares.... ho hum....

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

Thanks - and good luck to Kathy/Songsheet if you are bidding - I'm sure we will all need some luck with the way this sale has gone so far! Agreed it has been fascinating to watch though - I have been along the last couple of nights and it has been quite a spectacle...

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

We are looking to buy one we can race this season and hopefully improve on her race record. The one we are interested in should have a 2yo and 3yo running for the dam this season as well, with a yearling in the pipeline for the year after - so there is a chence we could get some improvement on...

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

Some excellent stuff there, Krizon - thanks. I have been doing a little bit of reading up on this subject and the one thing I am absolutely 100% clear on is that we will need the assistance of someone who really knows what they are doing! It seems there are any number of mistakes that can be...

    Buying A Successful Broodmare

Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the best "line of attack" for purchasing a broodmare for a relatively cheap price? It is obviously a very complicated "science" trying to predict which mares may produce successful offspring, but I am interested in "angles", whereby one might be able...
