    Ballydoyle 2 Year Olds 2009

All the birds of Ireland are singing! Well done to Steinbeck and to Footstepsinthesand.

The Derby & Irish Derby 2009

Ballydoyle looks to hold an excellent hand of Derby horses - esp. F&G of course - without him, so why take the risk of possibly bottoming this horse for the season? SJP, Eclipse, Irish Champion surely a better route for RVW.

    Red Rock Canyon

Wish him luck. Both he and his mum Imagine deserve a prize like this.

    Chester May Meeting

Which do you mean, EC1, riding Frozen Fire or riding for AOB?

    Rachel Alexandra

Rachel is now running in the Preakness for her new owner and new trainer, and she is the favourite ahead of Mine that Bird and Pioneerof The Nile. Somehow I think this is too early and not the right race for her to go against the colts. Fancy POTN here to reverse Derby form.

    French Guineas

Thanks for the correction, Steve - 1000G of course. 1-2-1 was a fantastic result of course - but it really told on a wonderful filly - a horse I love.

    French Guineas

Hamm wrote: Could well be a race too far, but I expect Vocalised to put up a bold show on Sunday. Creachadoir managed to get second in his Fr Guineas on his fifth run of the season - and then still managed a successful season thereafter. JB races them hard if he thinks they can take it...

    2 Year olds 2009

Tend to agree with you, Crazyhorse. The horse had to travel from Chester to Goodwood as well.

    Congratulations Songsheet!

He did it really well. Congratulations!

    Chester May Meeting

Another stakes winner for High Chapparal - keeping the momentum going. Does Colm O'Donoghue ride him at home? He, unlike Johnny Murtagh, wasn't surprised by the winner's performance. Of course, it was GS's second run of the season and Masterofthehorse's first.

    Chester May Meeting

Yes, Galileo, that's really what I meant but didn't say. Sorry if I seemed to be dismissive, Hamm. BTW Stoute has warned not to back Phillipina for the Oaks, that she is unlikely to run. Must be quite confident of Enticement's running a good trial in the Musidora.

The Derby & Irish Derby 2009

The Derrinstown looks hot. Should prove informative.

    The Oaks & Irish Oaks

I think Bolger will aim Cuis Ghaire at the Oaks after she runs in (and wins?) the Irish 1000. She'd have a fine chance IMO.

That is certainly worth an ironic chuckle at the very least, Songsheet. Doubt that Mine That Bird will be winning the Belmont though, but after the KD, who knows? Tear up the form book.

    Longchamp

Two lengths. Magadan a comfortable winner. Re High Chaparral, I think High Heeled looks very good at this stage.

    Longchamp

Magadan won well with Coastal Path a staying on reasonable second in a race that was probably too short for him. Magadan may headline a good year for High Chaparral. The only thing I don't like about him is the fact that his dam's name is Molasses! Still, her sire was Machiavellian - maybe...

    Curragh

Oxx's horse Kargali actually went off the favourite in the Mooresbridge - and finished last. But yes Dermot Weld had a case of seconditis with his good horses this weekend (Casual Conquest on Saturday). Given better race riding from the usually excellent Pat Smullen I'd hope Famous Name could...
