    Urban Sea- Dead

Wow - they sound a lovely group of prospects. I 'vote for' the yearling Kingmambo/All Too Beautiful filly. I hope this wonderful family keeps going and going.

Would pick Magadan to beat Coastal Path and Prospect Wells. Think Magadan may be headed for a big season.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. For someone who is correcting spelling - it's of course Air Chief Marshal - looked very smart today. Perhaps just a tad early to talk about Coventry favourite though.

Nobel as in prize - the inventor of dynamite. Air Chief Marshall a penalty kick today.

EC1 wrote: EC1, Flame mentioned RV's indifferent work on 27th April on the Rainbow View thread. Still didn't stop me from putting her in all three of my TTF lines. Must keep the faith though - there's a long season ahead. Though the long range forecasts say that it will be a barbecue summer...

Thanks for pointing that out, Galileo. I've had a look at tomorrow's (very interesting) card. Was surprised to see Vocalised in the Tetrarch - thought he would go with Intense Focus to the Poulains - maybe he will anyway? I hope Chief Lone Eagle goes well here and will be aimed at the Irish...

    Kentucky Derby (was: Dunkirk)

2nd? 3rd? 4th? Thought I knew the form of the main protagonists pretty well - but then, of course, Mine That Bird wasn't reckoned to be one of the main protagonists. A shocker.

Congratulations, Urban Sea. You've got another Star!

    Saturday's Racing

Anyone have strong feelings on Casual Conquest vs. Spanish Moon in the five-runner Jockey Club Stakes? I'm hoping for a win by CC to start off a strong season for him. Dermot Weld's horses seem to be coming into form in the last couple of weeks after a slow start.

    1000 Guineas

Just saw this in Sporting Life. Good to firm and even firm didn't bother him when it came to running Finsceal Beo 2/3 times in quick succession in early season in both 2007 and 2008. ;) Can it be that wily Jim has learned something at this stage of his career from his aggressive handling of...

    Paco Boy

Yes, it is disappointing but not really unexpected. Godolphin did warn that he was only a possible for the Lockinge, that it might come too soon after his return from Dubai. I hope this is the case and that he will be ready, willing and able for Royal Ascot!

    Kentucky Derby (was: Dunkirk)

I like Dunkirk and wish him well, but because of his relative inexperience and the nature of the race, I think if he places it should be considered a success. Friesan Fire is my idea of the winner (blistering work the other day) - he seems really tuned despite the long (by KD standards) time...

    Ballydoyle 2 Year Olds 2009

I'll take the obvious early one since nobody else has. Steinbeck for me. I really wish FITS well this year, was disappointed that he never ran again after the Guineas.

    Yeats (and The Gold Cup)

Goodwood Cup maybe. You could see him there perhaps, Isinglass? A last look?

    Prix Ganay

Do you mean, Galileo, that Godolphin purchased Jupiter Pluvius from Coolmore/Ballydoyle? I know the Sheikh's son has bought horses from them, but I didn't think Sheikh Mohammed would. If so, JP seems an odd choice for them, given his relatively low profile last season.

    Prix Ganay

Unfortunately for Nick Mordin and his followers Thewayyouare is not in the Tentofollow list. There are only 250 horses in it this year. (I'll bet there will be loads of duplicate lists.) I wish they could have taken account of Hala Bek's and Doctor Dino's retirements and had room for...

APOB article from todays Irish Times

Thanks for the link - interesting indeed. I wonder how readily Ballydoyle staff criticize AOB though. It sounds as if Yeats is trying to tell them something - like maybe he's more than ready, willing and able to move over to Coolmore and different duties. :)

    2000 Guineas

Vocalised isn't entered for Newmarket. I think Bolger has indicated he'll go to France for the Poulains and that Intense Focus is his 2000 Guineas horse.
