    Cheltenham 2018/2019

Can’t see it happening now. Too many negative comments from Elliott about his chance. More than likely run at Aintree and/or Punchestown. Only had a small ante post on him for the Stayers and was never 100% confident placing it but there we go.

Couldn’t agree more with that. I’m possibly bigging Hardline up way too much but if he stays up he shouldn’t be out of the first three.

Is racing straighter than it's ever been?

I always found trainers being sponsored by bookmakers to be unfair but in another way, if Unibet went top price about a Henderson hotpot on the day of the race, I think we should take notice that chances are it isn’t winning. Hypocritical that Kayley Woollacott gets lambasted for being sponsored...

I still think 12/1 without the NRNB is value to be honest with you. Granted it was over further but I honestly thought there was more to his performance in the Flogas last time out and although he jumped poorly once, he’s a good enough jumper in the main. Elliott had Delta Work beat Le...

The more I look at the Arkle, especially with hopefully softening ground on the first day, as long as he gets around I just can’t see him out of the top three. If they go off like the clappers like they normally do, he may be off the bit 2/3 from home but if it turns into a stamina test late on...

Did a Benie/Delta/Sir Erec treble earlier. No guarantee of course and I’m normally rubbish with multiples but on paper it looks solid. I think I’ll try a few each way doubles and trebles on bigger price horses throughout the festival when the declarations are near enough/definitely confirmed...

No account with them sadly but you’re spot on with it being so close now I just can’t take the risk. I’ve actually invested more on him winning the JLT but that was immediately after his run behind La Bague Au Roi. Stepping back to 2 miles I didn’t see happening.

With Le Richebourg out it makes sense, especially if the ground is soft on the day too I’d be more confident. I want to get stuck into WH 12/1 for the race but without confirmation of his target I’ll have to let it go. Thanks for your reply.

I’m still wondering what race Hardline goes for? Got ante post bets on him for the Arkle and JLT but he’s been tipped for the Brown Advisory by an Irish tipster (forgotten his name) on the Racing Post WTW video for Cheltenham week. Seriously frustrating if Elliott takes him handicapping now.

Paisley Park - Just not for me at the price and whilst he’s won his races impressively, I think the form of his last two races would not stand up to a full strength Stayers Hurdle field. If Penhill ran in this (we know he won’t be now), along with Faugheen and Samcro, I just couldn’t seem him in...

The Road to the 2019 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Because of the dry ground again? As it stands we’re looking at a good/good to soft festival only if they water the course. Perhaps he’ll be willing to let him take his chance in the big one on ‘unsuitable’ ground but can’t be rushing in at 3/1 to back it with so much against it now. Agree with...

    Cheltenham 2018/2019

All good points, make a lot of sense. I’m happy I chose the right horse, just backed it for the wrong race! All part of the learning curve in this game though I suppose.

    Cheltenham 2018/2019

Thanks for all your replies gents, much appreciated. I’m gutted it’s won today to be honest as I’d have rathered it finish outside the places but there you go. My own fault for not backing it today!

    Cheltenham 2018/2019

Last night I backed Cap York to win the Pertemps final hoping it would finish in the top 4/6 today ready for the festival. Obviously wins today (no money on it today). Anyone know if many winners of the trials win the festival race itself or just the placers? Would look myself but I’m in work...

    Cheltenham 2018/2019

Covered myself with a bet on it in the Arkle last night (NRNB) as if it does run in it I can’t see him being 25/1 on the day with plenty in the race odds at the moment unlikely to run. If he goes 3m or above then I’ll wait until the day. I just hope he runs as well as I think he can.
