    Hi

When did that ever stop housebuilders?

The 2026 Great Yorkshire (Handicap) Chase

Which would suggest that on this occasion the going stick number is simply wrong.

The 2026 Great Yorkshire (Handicap) Chase

Yes, it really didn't look heavy. I wondered whether there was a mistake in the numbers.

The 2026 Great Yorkshire (Handicap) Chase

By the way, Ian, I saw a stark illustration of your point that you should never take the official description of the going as gospel, when I was looking into Hyland's performances on soft ground. On 20 December at Ascot the official going was good to soft, but the going stick was 4.7 - heavy. Is...

The 2026 Great Yorkshire (Handicap) Chase

It would be very interesting if Faye Bramley could repeat the Gangouly trick with Walking On Air

The 2026 Great Yorkshire (Handicap) Chase

I was keeping an eye on the weather in case Hyland gets his ground, but I'm not so enthusiastic now he's top weight ...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Yes, I gave up on it after seeing him lose ground at what felt like three fences in a row, disappointing
  8. G

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

The trouble is he has to come back to Haydock, where I believe the fences are still counted among the more difficult.

Ante Post jumps discussion thread 2025/26

The owner said there's nothing between Old Park Star and Act of Innocence at home, so it might be worth having a tickle at 25s for AOI in the Turners, assuming they will be kept apart and AOI will go up in distance for his next race.

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

So you're giving him one more chance? Me too

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

So, for example, the stats above show Imperial Saint and Richmond Lake to have jumped well by absolute metrics, losing little speed in jumping and jumping well according to what a good jump looks like. But for Myretown and Konfusion all the stats say is that they jumped better than Royal...

£63.70 placepot divi. Better than I expected

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Must be a lot of accas running at Windsor given the winners of the first 4 races. I wonder what the placepot divi will be if the favs perform in the 5th Protektorat wins the 6th! I have a couple of longshots running for my placepot in the 5th, hopefully they squeeze out a couple of favourites.

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

Thanks! "... against the field's median...", i.e. against the other horses in the race, I suppose.
  15. G

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Yes, all three days, including Ascot
  16. G

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

The speed lost stat is independent of other horses, obvs. The lengths gained is relative: is it relative to the other horses in the race or to some calculated average idea?

What are you backing Today? Part 2

3:35 Planned Paradise. Seems like an obvious plot and the price now reflects - I got 7s, but not much, last night on the exchange. 2:25 Minella Missile. Ran in this last year off 138 after his G2 novice win - I can't believe he's as bad as 121. 15s on the exchange.

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

He jumps beautifully until he doesn't. Give Patrick Wadge another go!

The 2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase

Thanks for the heads-up on the price anyway. The e/w was a consolation. There was a lot of shouting round my way.
