    Amateur Jockey Races Thread

Had a 2-5 record in the past 14 days! Missed it, bastard.

    Many thanks, Slim.

    Look what I spotted

Fantastic meltdown, Q! Oh, what it is to be a proper racing fan, who attends a race meeting to watch horses race against each other - and not always having a bet. Racing exists because of betting, because, quite frankly, it isn’t a spectacle for most sports fans. But it is genuinely great to...

    Look what I spotted

Thanks for the info, Q. It’s great that there are enough older punters here, who can share those memories.

    Look what I spotted

As a matter of interest Q, where was Teeside Park racecourse? Sad tale about young Michael Eddery.

    Look what I spotted

Just noticed that 1976 GN winner, Rag Trade, ran in the same race.

    Look what I spotted

I remember Tanlic mentioning the horse’s name, but I’m not sure what the actual attraction was about.

    Look what I spotted

Attention is drawn to the field for 3:15 at Teeside, on this day in 1974. Horse second bottom of the weights.

    The Will Win Thread

AJ has to come in at 245 pounds or below. He will be very fit for the bout. Jake Paul has nothing to worry AJ. It’s a nailed-on certainty that AJ wins. I have never bet more than £25 in my life, so I won’t be chasing £2.50.

The Official Constitution Hill Thread 2025/26

I’m with you, Ian. He was an unbelievable novice and winner of a CH. But horses can lose it suddenly, either through injury, or anything else a human is never privy to. They just can’t tell you, can they? I’d love him to get it back, to win another CH. I’m also sure that won’t happen. But my...

The remaining November Meeting races at Cheltenham

Marvellous work, Ian, and I’m on at 40/1. I’ve stuck him in a trixie, though. Many thanks.

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Sorry to hear that bit, DO. I can imagine there will be greatly reduced fields tomorrow, after and during all that rain.

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Seven runners, so not an ew play. However, watch what HDO does at the first fence to see if he will lead. He’ll still be a good in-running price, if he’s leading at the first fence.

    Champion Hurdle 2026

I note that last year’s winner, thrice course winner, with her 7lb mares allowance, is 40/1.

    Artificial Intelligence

    This is interesting, thank you.

    Artificial Intelligence

I’ve tried it. I can confirm that it doesn’t work. Offers too many options; lacks conviction.

The Official Constitution Hill Thread 2025/26

An early Christmas present is something like “the totally discounted Kauto Star” in the 2011 Betfair, dotting up at 8/1. Constitution Hill looks finished, in a very similar way to how KS looked finished after his previous run at the Punchestown Festival. But you’d surely want better than 9/4.

Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

If punters are not in on the sting, they can become very resentful. Like you, DO, I caught him right twice, but the horse ended up competing at G1 level. All sorts of sorcery going on to hide his true mark.

Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

I think Skelton will always be tainted by his ‘expert handling’ of Langer Dan. Every handicap winner he has now, will be judged on how Langer Dan was handicapped to win the Coral Cup twice. Pocket-hurty punters never forget.

    Daily picks.

I caught the last two winners, Gigs - thank you!
