    The Pointing Thread

Early thoughts: 16:55 Sam Cavallaro @ 10/1 is drifting to a very backable price considering he's won this twice and finished runner-up to a runaway winner 12 months ago - couple of classy rivals against him but he has his conditions here. 17:30 Summer Sounds @ 18/1 jockey not the best but he's...

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

A good friend of mine sourced Lilbitluso in Ireland and owned part of him until just before his Cheltenham win a few years ago - gutted for him, Steve, John & Justine the others involved at the time, Derek Malam who's a top point-to-point man here in the NW and Joe who's never backward in...

Thanks guys - it's not a big trainer but hopefully the horse does ok when he's out again. Martin

    Irish Grand National

To be fair I'm doing some work for a trainer at present on the French program book, that said the trainer is a Brit based in France.

    Irish Grand National

If they're bothered about people knowing it's running and are effectively on a massive ego trip then they should go to the French provincial courses, can guarantee there'd be more folk watching a 15k 5yo+ chase won by something rated the equivalent of about 105 than is at Ludlow or Fairyhouse on...

    Irish Grand National

To be fair it'd cost £2,000ish to run at Compiegne, the fences aren't that big and there's plenty of 50k+ races. UK trainers would much rather run their horses for 5k or for 30k in Graded races, doubt half of them even look at the likes of Dieppe which is literally a ferry ride and a horse box...

    BHA Hypocrisy

From a moral standpoint the BHA have far far bigger issues than FOBT's.

    Disastrous Bets

I had a tricast in France a couple of years ago - or in effect a tricast I should say with one of the French tote operators. Three horses I made significantly shorter in a conditions hurdle IIRC. Anyway they finished in the first three positions with a 20/1 shot coming home 8 clear of the other...

    Cheltenham Foxhunter

Sorry just seen these posts - looks very open at present. Burning Ambition lacks the experience of a lot of these and the reason for those who put him up seems to be that he has a similar profile to Cappa Bleu, but then he also has a similar profile to the winner of the Limerick race two or...

My bad - that's the place Archie.
  16. Irish Stamp

    Cheltenham Foxhunter

He'd struggle to qualify I think - this time around he#d need two Hunter Chase places or two Open P2P wins or an Open P2P win and a HC place. He was at David Christie's and being targeted at the race from what I remember but they've moved him back to WPM's so possibly off the agenda now. Martin

    Cheltenham Foxhunter

Cheers Granger - think the price thing was wishful thinking sadly. Even if the compilers don't have a clue (they didn't have much yesterday judged on the early prices) he was never going to be much bigger than the 4/5 opening show sadly. Martin

    Cheltenham Foxhunter

Very good performance and know plenty who thought he was passed the post before the race had begun. Word of warning though Granger in that he didn't beat much yesterday and though he's qualified for Cheltenham there are a heck of a lot of horses qualified for the big race and generally it takes...
