If I had backed Take No Chances I'd be citing that run/ride as a paragon (and not of virtue).

In my opinion It's usually deliberate with them when they appear to run or be ridden abysmally.

It is a very trappy race, TFT, and I agree that KOK is very generously priced if you can get the 28/1. Shame it's only two places.

Saturday, Newbury 2.15 - Col Du Pre' - for the life of me I can't see why this is 66/1. Its French rating translates to 140 and it gets in here off 127. With only three runs to its name it should be up to improving a fair bit more into its second season and I wouldn't want to be offering double...

Another thing that occurred to me last night was that maybe the Mullins / De Bromhead horses in this race aren't going for the National; that both yards have so many such high-class staying chasers in the yard that they've already identified their National best chances with ones that are sitting...

By the way, what does the ban actually involve? Is it non-involvement in any racing operation/organisation, not being allowed into racecourses (how do you enforce that?), not being allowed to bet, visit yards?

Edgt very kindly relieved me of a couple of Timeform Annuals when I met him in Dublin earlier this year. Pleased that they were heading to a good home.
