    Cheltenham ,April meeting

There's a ticket collection portakabin on the left-hand side as you walk past the Centaur towards the Hall of Fame entrance, or you could send them to reception - the main receptionist is very helpful.

Sorry to hear that Roddy - looked a very winnable race, but I'm sure he won't be kept idle long!

Planning to give the little mite a run out tomorrow - I don't need a badge, but his mother is in need of one if it's going. No worries if not.

    Jockey School - Ch 4 Thursday 22.00

I thought it was a potentially interesting programme spoiled by poor production. The kids all had a degree of complexity about them, but the programme largely focused on the minor dramas - Stacey talked about how the course had changed her and she was clearly making an effort to get away from...

    Stratford stewards

Two points - the distance beaten is largely immaterial, as Benbens was withing half a length when all but brought down by the rail dolling off the water jump, but the crucial point for me is that Dolatulo didn't move across a single inch. Stratford is one of several tracks (throw in Aintree...

    Tom Scudamore's judgment of pace

I'm impressed that you're able to bolster (no pun intended) your anti-Scudamore argument using races from more than 30 years ago, so I thought I'd dig the relevant evidence out: Artifice chinned by Fifty Dollars More FWIW, I thought this was a good ride to almost steal a quality contest on a...

    2014 Cheltenham Bumper

You were right first time. My reading of the Cheltenham contest is that he coped with conditions better than anything else, but that doesn't mean that he outstayed his rivals. The point about him starting with Charlton isn't that he was a reject as such, but that he already had an excellent...

    2014 Cheltenham Bumper

Is Modus a stayer? Ground won't be an issue, and he was impressive at Cheltenham, but bear in mind he'd been in full training with Roger Charlton on the Flat, and wouldn't have the scope of a couple of the NH breds.

    Cheltenham Festival Going

While Barry's 3 inches may not be as impressive as he'd like, he's right in saying that 3 inches of rain is a hell of a lot in the next 2 weeks. I'm slightly wary about that, given that the biggest individual drop looks a tad dubious, but if it's true, then it would have a significant effect on...

Top Irish trainer facing drugs charges

They arguably have no jurisdiction to do that, unless HRI raise the issue, and that's unlikely in the extreme.

Top Irish trainer facing drugs charges

It should be pointed out that Connell has, in deciding not to race TTT until the case is concluded, lit a fire under the whole affair. There can now be no excuse for others to drag their feet. BC has also ensured that he'll have the most popular horse in the country if he sticks to his guns.....
