What are you backing Today? Part 2

I've backed Hansard at 8/1 in the 4:05 at Plumpton: on a winning mark; a home fixture (CD winner); back at the right trip after trying further last time out. But I had a fitful night of dreams and they all included people telling me to back one of Willie Mullins' horses... What to do?

Does anyone follow this kind of thing?

It reminds me of the famous Charlie Munger quote: "Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome"

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Yes, disappointing. Fair assessment that he didn't pass the jumping test. I'm glad for the Skeltons, but it will all come down to Sandown and Willie has so many to choose from. And what have they got in the 365? I guess Hoe Joly Smoke is the one.

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I've done Blow Your Wad, in the 2:40 at Chelt, 11/2. As if the horse's name wasn't a bad enough omen, I have also walked under a ladder by taking the dreaded 365 boost. Edit: I see since updating this page that others have too. Fingers crossed.

The 2025 Scottish Grand National (Handicap Chase)

According to RP, Sail Away has had wind surgery no less than 4 times - twice in 2021, then 2023 and 2024. Is that a record?

Premier Handicap Hurdle (1.20 Aintree Saturday)

I'm going to take a punt that Bill Joyce is the one to step forward on (1) better ground and (2) up in trip.

    The 2025 Topham Handicap Chase

Yes! I was thinking about that article that said you're much better off racing prominently, and when I saw GDM at the back clouting one I feared that was it for him ...

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Aye, but there were signs at stages in the race today that he was running like a goodun, so hopefully I will remember you pointing him out and back him when the time comes.

I have Gentleman DM e/w at 33s, but a bigger pile, and my heart, riding with Ginny's D at 16s.

I don't know what he beat in the absence of Handstands and Dancing City, but that was a very impressive jump at the last. There's nothing like a reliable jumper!

Interesting reading on prominent runners in the Topham, which gives a mention to Ginny's D and Western Z. https://www.racingpost.com/news/raceday-intel/front-runners-who-specialise-at-the-distance-the-obvious-place-to-start-in-wide-open-topham-chase-aOrva0c8K2Mh/

Favour and Fortune for me, happy with 20s. Wellington Arch - does it concern you that the yard is not in the best of form?
