King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2023

Ratings are set by the people of the time and a lot of those decisions are subjective. Horses, as all athletes, now benefit from more scientific knowledge of nutrition, physiology, medical and improved/different facilities at yards. Would Nijinksy be better than August Rodine? I would say yes...

Thanks but the woman at the government department said 2nd /3rd cousins would not be considered as close enough relatives. My friend told me her memory, when she was very young, of visiting relatives was that she was the only young person there and everyone else was 'elderly'. She was an only...

    What are you watching

Just back from the National Theatre to see Dear England: absolutely brilliant. I wanted to stay for the evening performance. A play about Gareth Southgates' tenure as England Football Manager. Wouldn't matter if you didn't know anything about the last few years of the Mens' team, just...

Nowhere near those prices on PP... appreicate Hamish probably won't get his ground. Love Hukum..would be great if he could pull it off, but also love Adayar and would love him to bounce back.

So it's a year tomorrow since she died. A friend and I cleared all the food and did a final sweep of the house to try and find some paperwork but no. Everyone we spoke to said I had no rights and could get in trouble etc. I put the keys through the letter box and walked away. Eventually I was...

    What are you watching

Yes totally agree except from the very spine chilling theme music which still gives me the shivers.

    What are you watching

Agree re the potato famine programmes. PBS America have some really good stuff, just sometimes have to be in the mood to watch them.

Adayar's 50s... I know he ran flat at Newmarket but seriously??? I very rarely bet but think that is too crazy to pass on. Hamish at 100-1 , yes I know but come on, 9 days to go and that's just silly. He's fit, CD winner... crazy prices surely? AR can't be that sure a thing?

While the lynch mob gather round...

What's sad about this is that a newspaper, again, has basically ruined someone's life and their family's and there'll be no come back on them.

Also from Sandown, Cesca definitely pregnant: Ollie overheard telling someone she'll miss all of next year's flat as taking a year off. I went to buy some flags .

    TV coverage

Was telling a friend about the EJH hearing and he said a friend of his is currently writing a book about women in racing and she was the most unhelpful by far and pretty pointless speaking to her. Jessie Harrington on the other hand, couldn't have been more helpful. Not a huge surprise there really.

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I was there so need to watch it back, but not impressive from Paddington, getting weight as well. EU was getting to him, another 50 yards I think she would have had him. He's very 'front heavy' and looks like he could do with a bit of time to grow into himself properly. His back end looks 'weak'...

    Frankie Dettori Retirement Year Thread

I read that , it said DAFA, which is fine but ....anyway... up to him. Can't see him quitting if he's already worried about paying for a wedding.

    Frankie Dettori Retirement Year Thread

Not the injured jockeys fund? Surely he doesn't need to sell stuff to pay for a wedding?

    Sherwood as assistant?

First divorce yes, it was very nasty and very, very costly. Main reason didn't buy the yard although had options for years to do so. Leaving there when bought for Warren Greatrex, in effect, was a very bitter pill to swallow I was told too although he had had umpteen opportunities to buy it.

    Breeding and Bloodstock Sales

Suppose if you had that kind of money you wouldn't necessarily need too much convincing but seems steep , black type at listed place not huge endorsement I guess unless beaten by likes of an Enable! I'm a huge fan/bore about 'look what's in front of them rather than look at the page'..I'd be...

    Breeding and Bloodstock Sales

Could someone please show me the family tree of Ylang Ylang as trying to see how she cost so much. her sire aside, as a yearling other than she must have looked like a superstar waiting to happen, as the mare did nothing and looks as if this is her first produce? Thanks in advance.

    Sherwood as assistant?

Sorry I couldn't find a thread to put this on as didn't think it really was worth a thread on it's own, but it's stuck in my head so: does anyone else think it's odd, which isn't the right word, but been a long week and I can't think of another one right now which would be appropriate but does...
