    Road To The Champion Hurdle

Quite remarkable Steve that you had no worries last year about a horse that connections felt necessary to send him to Ireland to the Coolmore vets so puzzled they were about his performances.

    Leopardstown Sunday

Off the top of my head he has around 2-3lbs to find on official ratings.

    Leopardstown Sunday

Why did you include Citizen Vic in that considering he never got a chance to prove himself - whats more he beat the subsequent RSA chase winner that year. Most novice chases will have bad renewals - Moriarty Chase is no different. Regarding the comments on Mullins - he told us on Sunday...

If MdH cannot win this comfortably then I think Hamm's arguement might have alot more substance to it than I initially gave credit for.

    Irish Election Betting

General thoughts - Sinn Fein and Labour will not do quite as well as people are predicting, Fine Gael will do as well or a little better than currently predicted and FF will make marginal improvements on their current polling. The will be no Greens (which I think is a bit of a shame but their...

    Road To The Champion Hurdle

Right back on topic, we will see if Hurricane Fly runs or not....in the mean time plenty of interest this weekend.

    Road To The Champion Hurdle

I am sure a healthy and well HF will take his place in the line up - where he will of course have realistic claims to the title. Will leave it at that as I suspect the term, going around in circles, will soon come into the debate.

    Road To The Champion Hurdle

But why would taking in Cheltenham make Aintree a no go? Plenty of time between each of the three festivals. Clearly connections DO think the horse can win or at least go close to winning a Champion Hurdle. They maybe be wrong in your opinion but I doubt that will stop them trying - it is sport...

    Road To The Champion Hurdle

What race can he grab by missing Cheltenham? Not as if he has any alternative - wait until May for Punchestown? If you owned Hurricane Fly, after missing the last two festivals due to injury I would guarantee you would not have him sitting in his box while the Champion Hurdle was being run.

    Road To The Champion Hurdle

I would be amazed if he worked Hurricane Fly at Punchestown so soon after the Irish Champion when he is now presumably getting a short break. They worked the Hennessy horses after racing.

MCR Hurdle - Leopardstown 9th Jan

Cantoris, with due respect (and I mean that) but you are talking nonsense to think GF nearly lost due to Townend. He gave the horse every chance, and assistance, from the saddle.

MCR Hurdle - Leopardstown 9th Jan

Mullins interview with Gary O'Brien was pretty interesting - O'Brien mentioned Townend had come in for some criticism recently (unfairly in his view) but Mullins was having none of it saying Townend gets plenty from his mounts but not necessarily in the normal "beat him silly" manner and his...

    Punchestown Today

I agree, he has to step up considerably on this year's form. I have had a complete sea change in opinion on the horse's target - I think they should definitely go for the Gold Cup provided the ground is decent.
