    Aintree - Other Races

I’m taking the (probably erroneous) view that - Ballyburn apart - most of the 2m novice hurdlers are wankers, and on that basis, I’m happy to oppose the front of the market in the Top Novices tomorrow. As it happens, I’m also happy to oppose the middle of the market as a collection of...

    Aintree - Other Races

Away for the next few days for Mrs Grass’s birthday, so some speculations this evening, to keep the dream alive whilst we’re walking the dog in knee-deep mud round Loch Tay tomorrow. 13:45 - Heart Wood. Handicapped to go close regardless, come here relatively fresh, and I instinctively want to...

Dear Willie Mullins, if you ever need help with race planning, just pick-up the fu*cking phone. Happy days.

    Aintree - Other Races

FWIW, I think tomorrow’s Aintree Hurdle is the poorest edition of the race that I can ever remember.

    Aintree - Other Races

Perfectly reaonable take - though drift is getting towards the alarming end of the scale, imo.

    Aintree - Other Races

Every chance. I've spent a fair old time now seeing something in this horse that nobody else apparently sees. It could be worse though. I mean, I could be after backing an odds-on poke in a G1 juvenile, for a yard that hasn't had a winner since Mafeking, eh? :)

    2024 Grand National

IMO, Dinoblue was almost certainly held-up to get the trip, given it appeared to be beyond her as a novice hurdler. Walsh is faultless if he was told to give her a patient ride, and the error two-out almost certainly cost her the race. I don't see any need for conspiracy theories, tbh.

    2024 Grand National

Personal opinion, but Corach Rambler could probably have won twice as far as he did last year, and will take plenty of beating again this year - regardless of weight, ground and concerns about his Cheltenham efforts. In my view, he is very similar to Tiger Roll, in that the Aintree test just...

    Aintree - Other Races

One bet tomorrow, and off the cliff again with Il Etait Temps. I had actually wanted him to go in the Turners rather than the Arkle at the Festival, as he doesn't really have the toe for 2m, but then he won again at Leopardstown over the minimum which basically kyboshed any notion of going in...

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Saddest news of the week. Limestone Lad was an absolute hero of a racehorse. RIP.

Not at all, Outsider - these are the slings and arrows.

    Cheltenham Festival: Friday Races

Pains me somewhat to admit that I kept backing The Jukebox Man from the time I first posted on 4th March, and kept backing him again and again and again. He was by some significant margin my most-backed horse at the Festival this year, and whilst the place portion of my bets easily covered the...

    Cheltenham Festival: Tuesday Races

Bizarrely, Lucinda doesn’t declare Giovinco or Apples Away in Ultima. With 23 declared, both would have got in. AA goes in the National Hunt Chase. Giovinco presumably goes in Brown Advisory.

    Cheltenham Going on Day 1?

Going is now Soft all round on the Old Course, after 7ml last night.

    Cheltenham Festival: Friday Races

The Triumph market appears to have stablised - he’s back in to 2.7 (still a half-point bigger than this afternoon).

    Cheltenham Going on Day 1?

Good-to-Soft, Soft in places. It’s going to need that rain on Sunday.
