It's all apples v oranges as every country has taken different measures. No other country as far as I know did a staged lockdown like we did, over the week of 16th-23rd March, they went from normal life to lockdown. Germany still haven't entered lockdown. So yes, there is a good reason for it... -

It's still the quickest way out of this in the medium to longer term and is a tried and tested strategy that we use consistently for other viruses. A denier of what? For what it's worth I've seen plenty of doctors and nurses (and a couple that I know personally) saying that they have plenty of spare capacity and they are confident they have the resources to cope with this in the long term. I treat that with caution too.
