    Nassau stakes

Surprised that Sky Lantern's stamina is being taken on trust as much as it is. Red Clubs doesn't have much of a record beyond 1m and there's hardly loads of stamina on the dam side. Yes, she's a half sister to Shanty Star that won the Queen's Vase but he was the exception rather than the norm.

Ha ha. I would say, that's the last time I make a smart arse off the cuff remark, but we know it won't be! Not often I get a tweet from Mr and Mrs Hughes in a day!

Just thought her price was a little under really. Was backing her at double figs for the Queen Mary. Not sure a low draw in the middle of the track will be ideal, so passing her over.

Think Sleeper King and Majestic Alexander are both overpriced in the Molecomb. Expect them to be on the pace near the rail, which might be an advantage. Both having something to find on conventional form, but stop their last races 1f out and Sleeper King looked a match for Supplicant and the...

Speaking generally, I think one of the biggest weakness of a punters post-race analysis as a whole is being clouded too much by pre-race expectation.

Peslier is contracted to ride for owner of Very Nice Name, it's not a case of him choosing him over Cirrus des Aigles.

Do they? Take out Doumen, and they've never won it, and he hasn't had a winner since First Gold in 2000.

    Irish Oaks

Amazing that Hughes got stick for the Oaks ride, positioning there was the difference between victory and defeat. The main reason Talent settled better at Epsom than the Curragh was the strong early gallop. The Curragh race was slowly run, hence why the finished in a heap.

Not in the King George, Fantastic Light was better at a mile and a quarter I think and got his revenge on Galileo in the Irish Champion, in part due to the shorter trip and a real canny ride. Not that I'm knocking Montjeu, he really was something special.

    Jumps racing pattern race upgrades

http://www.britishhorseracing.presscentre.com/Press-Releases/British-Horseracing-Authority-Announces-Upgrades-to-Jump-Pattern-Races-for-2013-14-3fe.aspx No surprise that the Jewson is among 4 races to be upgraded to Grade 1 status, but the Celebration Chase? Not sure that is warranted given the...

A good time to watch this again? The closest thing to a perfect perfomance I've seen on a racetrack, so graceful and efficient. Wonderful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo7pEsp2WKc
