    RIP Sir Henry

I was there too - a great great moment. Most were hoping Passage of Time would do it for him so the mixture of relief and joy when Light Shift came through was something else. I guess this goes some way to explaining the Juddmonte news.

    £2500 for a £1200 TV? Ouch.

    The Oaks

Poor Conduit. Two Breeders Cup Turfs, a King George and creditable runs in an Arc and Eclipse and yet he gets reduced to the slow Leger-winner stereotype.

    Pretty basic error there Grassy.

This was put to Simon Crisford in the press conference at the BHA last week. His answer: "That's not for him to do. Dubai [racing] is run by the Emirates Racing Authority and it's entirely up to that authority and Sheikh Mohammed has absolutely nothing to do with that whatsoever."

    Toronado

The last race was only about 1.5 lengths off a track record. Clearly wind had gone behind them by then?

    Toronado

Would absolutely love to see High Chaparral get a Derby winner and as I said elsewhere Toronado really impressed me at Doncaster last year and won the Craven as you'd want to see given what he was asked to do. I am a little bit sceptical about him getting 12f. Most of his family seem to be...

Its unclear whether they're allowed in training in the UAE. This piece: http://www.thenational.ae/sport/horse-racing/anabolic-steroids-permitted-in-uae-to-aid-horses-recovery-from-colic-or-serious-fractures says: Now that might not be too far off the situation in GB. A lot depends on the...

Doesn't even have to be that elaborate. At least one form of ethylestrenol (Nitrotain) claims a withdrawal period of 48 hours (as Miesque mentioned earlier). Who knows how often it was being given whilst horses were in GB? And didn't Godolphin cut back on their wintering policy anyway? Not sure...

Miesque - are there valid veterinary reasons to use anabolic steroids on horses (any, not necessarily racehorses) e.g. to help recovery from injury where muscle wastage might occur?

Not to mention the 3, 4 or even 5 years that many jumpers have before entering a licensed yard.

I don't understand that piece. The link to the National piece says that: How is that any different to here?

If the BHA really have risked that, and I'm not sure they have, then they deserve a huge amount of credit for putting principles of integrity ahead of pragmatism. With the Aga Khan it wasn't so much the positive test itself that he had a problem with, but that the Jockey Club's testing...

Remember when two of Bin Shafya's endurance horses (owned by Sheikh Mohammed) got done (for stanozolol!) just after that 2009 World Cup night?

    Road to the 2000 Guineas

Shame it wasn't a more competitive race but that was a very nice, professional win from Toronado in the Craven.
