What is the point of having an excess? I pay a tenner a month for mobile phone insurance, lose it and have to pay £50 for the claim. Surely the whole point is that I pay insurance so I can claim if needs be? Excess is a disgrace.

My laptop broke so I am borrowing one from my parents. I am trying to download AVG and a couple of other things and they are all downloaded extremely slowly - 18 hours apparently for the AVG file. Is there any way I can speed up downloads? My broadband connection is working fine.
