    Bloodstock 2011

Kri, I mentioned Double Trigger originally as a possible alternative to Tobougg after the latter was mentioned as although I like Tobougg and would put no-one off him, they both stand at the same place, DT is nearly half the proce of Tobougg, and is a guaranteed source of stamina (which was...

    Bloodstock 2011

I HAVE looked him up, thank you. I also follow with interest the breeding of young NH stock so I do know something about NH pedigrees. If you want to use Captain Rio then fine but you've a long time to hope that it might get 2m over hurdles, with it very unlikely to get any further if it does...

    Bloodstock 2011

I wouldn't touch Pasternak with a shitty stick, nor Captain Rio if you've an eye for NH or want any stamina, it was a 6f sprinter, for God's sake! As there was an emphasis put on wanting a sire that would impart stamina and would go jumping, I suggested Double Trigger as he fits that bill. The...

    Unwinding from Stress

Two large glasses of wine and a good shout later I feel much better than I did an hour ago, almost chilled even. Got back from a long day at work to see a couple WATCHING their dog shit all over the grass in front of my garden and at the bottom of the steps to my flat. Lost it completely when...

Don't get me wrong, I don't fancy him!!!! Paddy's a nice bloke (not that I know him well at all) but renowned for being a nutter. Life wouldn't be boring around him I guess!

Ballydoyle Horses 2011 Discussion and Comp

Wave's a crap name. With the amount of scope for a great name within the pedigree, that's a big disappointment!

    Bloodstock 2011

Although I like Tobougg, I'd definitely go for Double Trigger over him - much cheaper, turns out nice horses even if they can be late to mature, and guaranteed stamina. Double Trigger produces flashy types as well.

Shocking. I can't believe Paddy Brennan is 29. That would pretty much still make him Young Brennan to me! :ninja: :( Gettin' old.

"Value" - what the hell is it?

You can't eat value, as they say.

    Point to points

Until this mention, I hadn't noticed Arkwright's earlier comment about Gina. You not a fan, Arkers? She's a very good jockey, as is her sister - about whom [Bridget] I was told 2 or 3 years ago by someone connected to the girls that "she's even better than Gina".

Rory will be pleased to hear that Phil York is currently sharing the lead in the men's PTP title with John Mathias. Nae so bad for a jockey who isn't capable.... :D

    Books To Recommend ?

David (and Stella) Gemmell's Troy trilogy is well worth a read - it's very good. It's a completely different twist on the Trojan legend but it works very well.

British horsemen’s group minimum prize money tariffs

I can't remember the exact amount, but TurfTV pay a lot more per race to their tracks than SiS do.

    Nicky Henderson Found Guilty

Camilla Henderson is saying on Twitter that it was a private bet struck with a friend.

Back York trained horses (Phillip or Ray), York ridden and Cannon ridden horses and you should find a few winners.

    Bread

Sorry, I've been out all day! The bread making machines have probably improved in fairness, I've just always found that they produce bread with a different texture and flavour to 'proper' fresh bread and although I'll eat it if there's nothing else, I'd rather 'proper' fresh bread anyday.

    Bread

I don't like bread made from bread makers - it just doesn't taste right nor have the right texture, IMO. Haven't had some in a while mind, as I don't like it. A bread maker is one fo those things you'll use a few times then get bored of - unless you've all day to waste and nothing else to do...

    Retirements & Departures 2011

I know it's not racing, but Daisy Dick's popular eventer Spring Along died at Gatcombe yesterday of a suspected heart attack whilst negotiating the steps. He was a favourite of mine and the old boy won me a few quid when he was placed at Badminton one year having backed him at some ridiculous...

British horsemen’s group minimum prize money tariffs

I can't understand the quibbling about £100k races falling £6k short of the tariff - ffs! They want to be concentrating on the lower end, up to the £20k mark, say, and increasing that. If you win a bumper today you'll be lucky to break even with around £900 to the winner - before taking into...
