The 2025 Paddy Power Gold Cup (Handicap Chase)

You do you then. I thought it may well have been an angle that not every person had considered. Some courses do indeed suit front runners while some don't just as going changes can influence that too.

The 2025 Paddy Power Gold Cup (Handicap Chase)

This is an interesting read and he makes a good point - plus he likes your Bad https://www.racingpost.com/news/the-front-runner/the-importance-of-being-eager-why-it-could-pay-to-follow-front-runners-in-saturdays-paddy-power-gold-cup-at-cheltenham-aIQ5L1Y7g9kI/

    My notebook runners

I missed Our Boy Stan's race as the internet was sticky. Read the report and it sounded like he had a few jumping issues. He is a big horse though and his future may lie over fences.

    New Point To Point Forum

She was at Wincanton yesterday flogging the headbands so maybe there was an extra need for decoration.

Ones that have had a glaringly obvious "strange" ride...

Absolutely not everything is a plot. But the trainer's job is to win races for the owner (not the punter) and if the horse is too high in the handicap to win off it's current mark, then matters are taken in hand.

Oh I meant to put Our Boy Stan in my Ten to Follow! I really liked him last year.

The 2025 Paddy Power Gold Cup (Handicap Chase)

Just a quick glance but if Skelton's keep Protektorat in on top weight, then that leaves Riskintheground on a very attractive 10st5 - he's a course winner plus he comes here off the back of a nice victory over Blue King d'Oroux last time, setting him up nicely. Currently 16s.

Ones that have had a glaringly obvious "strange" ride...

Horses are being stopped regularly and if you don't think they aren't then you really shouldn't be punting. I am not saying it is all about landing a touch but more to do with getting a horse back down to a winnable mark. So you run them in the wrong races, on the wrong ground, on the wrong...

Ones that have had a glaringly obvious "strange" ride...

Jonjo O'Neill stops more horses than most trainers put together (or did when I knew him/ran against him) And he will tell you in a completely deadpan accent that the horse was completely running on it's merits and he has no idea why the horse ran like that. And before anyone comments about how...

Novice & Maiden Hurdlers 2025-2026 - Who Might Step Up?

Chaumi - I stuck Starzand in as my Dark Horse on the strength of that win and the seemingly very positive response from connections after the race. I then collared Johnson at Newton Abbot and he was very positive about the horse. So I was surprised to see Philip implying that Sober Glory was the...

Ones that have had a glaringly obvious "strange" ride...

Yes he definitely was an odd one although I felt the horse wasn't suited hugely by the fences - he kept jumping slowly and deliberately. But he was sitting a ridiculous way off the pace in any case. I think there used to be but couldn't find anything so I thought I would modernise it anyway!!

Ones that have had a glaringly obvious "strange" ride...

I couldn't find anywhere to post this so I thought maybe there should be a thread. Both NH & Flat are welcome. For those horses that are swinging out the back and just aren't put in the race until IT IS TOO LATE...! And maybe they are wanting to get the handicap mark down..... Not talking out...

    The Will Win Thread

She was the best horse in the race but that mistake two out made the difference - that and the near two stone she was giving the winner.

Articles the Racing Post put behind a paywall that you'd want paying to read....

1,600 words plus is the easiest way to lose the interest of the reader. It should be far less, have a beginning(or introduction), a middle and an end (or conclusion). When I write up point to point reports, I try to start off with a brief paragraph of the main events, followed by what I think...

    Jockey News

It's a yard I don't have a lot of trust for...or respect. I just feel it's a bit of a factory. Often happens when they are chasing titles.

    My notebook runners

I'm a bit annoyed. I spoke to Johnson White last week and asked about Starzand who I popped in as my Dark Horse and was he their best. Johnson did confirm that he was really highly thought of and now I read that this Sober Glory is their next big horse - surely he could have told me that...

    Nr's - Again!!

I was on a zoom call last night about pointing and we had one of our senior stewards on it who is also a course inspector and he said part of the problem at the moment was that because of the very hot dry summer, the recent rain has only gone in so far. Which means you have a few inches of...
