    John Durkan - 3pm Sun 23 November

I am always wary of the KG simply because many horses do not enjoy Kempton. It is a funny course over 3m - the fences seem to come quickly and some very good horses have failed to perform in the past in the race. Those that do enjoy the relentless gallop, jump, keep enjoying it - Kauto and...

    BUMPERS

TO be fair I did like all the Honeyball horses but Crest of Arms was the most green and difficult to handle in the paddock plus he was keen in the race and a bit wayward. He can only improve. Roxi is definitely the pick on looks though.

    BUMPERS

Meant to say that I was pretty taken with the types in the Wincanton bumper last Thursday (20th Nov) - Honeyball had three in it of which I was told the winner would win. But his others were nice too (second and unplaced though v green) 1. Bailey's Comet 2. Champ Cabal 3. Roximan (this was...

    John Durkan - 3pm Sun 23 November

I watched the race on my phone as I stood in a field in Devon at a point to point. I thought it was an incredible performance to run like that and still hold on especially as he was headed over the last. He just pulverised them (from what I could see on a 4 inch screen) and kept galloping...

    Deadpool 2012

I'm still in the moment where 2012 is only three years ago.... 😁 Brucie figured a lot on many people's list and so did many others who are still alive and kicking which is good to see. Slim were you SlimChance back in those days? I know you had another name but couldn't remember if you were...

    Deadpool 2012

I suddenly recalled this thread from yesteryear and was having a looksee and Goodness, Troods! Was it really not so very long ago that we thought Rolf was OK? Some interesting picks too (and also rather sad to see so many dormant accounts including permanent ones) but the inaugural year...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Don't beat yourself up over it - I missed a winner I had marked up as one to back at Wincanton on Thursday while I was there. Then I looked down and saw the owner (who I know personally and can't stand) so I left it - it won at 9-1.... 😂 Serves me right!

I think he's better over shorter and Haydock ground can be really sapping

I think it was never in doubt especially after last year. Haiti was very disappointing in the jumping stakes and looked a bit stressy beforehand too.

Actually looking at him again now at the start he looks better - sometimes when you take the rugs off, they perk up

Stellar doesn't look great in his coat to be honest.

Nice by both the Irish girls today - Lossie couldn't have had an easier time while Wodhood really wasn't that happy on the softened ground but to be fair, she knuckled down well (perfect op with such a low weight) and won nicely. Good run by the second too.

Really good performance by The Jukebox Man. I thought he looked a little tubby before the race and so I opposed him. He will come on a lot for that race too - King George is a distinct possibility. He is very good.

Toby is Donald's nephew - he's out of Jo, Donald's sister. Not sure of the sire. But yes he's a good lad and I used to see him pointing a lot.

Yeah - I'm never happy when a horse is jumping one way or another as I always suspect there's a problem grumbling. Good performance in the next from Oscar's Brother but I wasn't unhappy with Koktail Divin and he may be better dropped back in trip slightly. Nice from Kabral du Mathan - that...

Very much so - there were some nice physical types in there too. The winner I was impressed by initially I thought he'd win easily but he got headed. Some good jumping got him back in the race and he was very gutsy to get back up and win from his stablemate who is also nice. Worth rewatching the...

Well that didn't play out to plan...first two look like they are going to make nice chasers. Skelton's might be worth following back down in his own age handicap?

Just a few today! Cracking day's racing which I am looking forward to. I am undecided on the bigger races but here are a few I am thinking of after a quick flick through the cards: Haydock 12.08 Possibly RF Masked Man & Sticktotheplan 1.15 Kabral du Mathan 1.50 Iroko (wind op) 2.25 Ace of...
