    Non Triers

All too easy to blame my own poor judgment on a horse not trying or being stopped. On occasion a horse I’ve backed has been beaten because of (in my opinion) a poor ride but I usually try and review a replay before reaching that conclusion

    Kingwell Hurdle

Disappointed that Nemean Lion goes to Haydock for the Rendlesham rather than trying to win this again. He hasn’t looked to me like he wants 3m but what do I know?

    Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase (Kempton)

Surprised Flegmatik has been declared for the Ascot chase this weekend

    The 2025 Grand National

It’s the connection Monbeg Genius has or used to have to the thieving Baroness Mome that would lead to the bad publicity I think

    Kingwell Hurdle

Looking forward to being at Wincanton for this it looks a better race than last year’s edition but a long way short of the race it once was thinking back to the first time I went to see the mighty Alderbrook on his way to Chanpion Hurdle glory

    TV coverage

Really enjoyed Ruby ripping into Micky Fitz when he said Sir Gino was 100% sound this morning. Well why’s he not here? Could it be Nicky saw the opposition and thought Neh don’t fancy that much. Classic

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Rubaud was massively flattered by his proximity at the finish IMO

    Denman Chase

Fair play to Djelo. BMG proved he’s gone at the game

What are you backing Today? Part 2

A poorly judged ride IMO using up far too much energy on the first circuit

    Denman Chase

I’m staggered to see Djelo favourite for this giving weight to the Nicholls pair. This horse started this season over just over 2m at Exeter and hardly looked to want an extra half mile when winning the Peterborough. Then Protektorat put 20 lengths on him in the last half mile at Windsor...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

3.25 Kempton Flegmatik will be hard to beat if putting his best for forward but he seems plenty short enough for one that probably wants 3m these days. Instead I’ve had an each way go on Lounge Lizard (10/1 4 places) who’s back down to his last winning mark which also came on a flat RH track...

    Game Spirit Chase

A big shame about Sir Gino who was the star attraction for me and I won’t be going to Newbury now. In his absence I think Master Chewy has a chance on this flat track although conceding weight to Matata and Liberty Hunter will be tough

    Newbury Hurdle entries.

The RP cards had Rex Dingle riding both earlier (very flexible). I see they’ve changed that now with the other Freddie G (Gingell) up on Aucunrisque. Freddie Gordon rides Press Your Luck for his father earlier at Newbury so a bit puzzling that he’s not on one of the three alright. I guess the...

Racing Post journalists and very silly articles

Maddy Playle is certainly not the only one who serves up endless drivel. I’m currently getting 4 or 5 emails a day from the RP. Many of them are stuff I really don’t care about while the others include links to articles which may be interesting but are usually hidden behind a paywall

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Ludlow 3.45 Can You Call has dropped to a handy mark following poor runs in October and November but his effort at foggy Chepstow behind the smart Lowry’s Bar was a bit more like it. 4/1 seems like a decent price with the trainer back in form
