    King George VI Chase

Cheltenham's Old Course isn't stiff at all Tanlic. Constantly on the turn and relatively sharp. The Real Whacker won 3 times on the old course last season including over two and half miles. It's his pace and ability to jump off the front that wins him his races, something that is often an asset...

    Talking Horse Ante-Post Competition 2023 / 2024 December selections

Actually Faye, I've just checked on oddschecker and you can see Coral's odds of 20/1 pre-race if you select the 'All History' option, so the selection can actually be verified.

Limit on runners in major handicap

I think that misses the point Paul. I seem to remember everyone being fervently against Fergus Wilson running horses that were patently past their best in graded races. And as has previously been mentioned there was general uproar when Pipe did it in the Festival handicaps, including on here...

Do They Know What They Talk About?

I've long been an advocate of WFA for Mares working on a reducing scale. For a dominant Mare to keep the allowance always seems unfair to me.

Utter rubbish. The King Of Ryhope hated the ground which was worse than a bog, and didn't act on it at all. He also lost a shoe early on. He was allowed to coast home without the race leaving a mark on him, jumping the last big and bold with his ears pricked. Looking after a horse that patently...

Limit on runners in major handicap

If the rule applied to both trainers and owners I'd understand it. And if it was done in cooperation with the IRB moreso. Elliott, Mullins, JP, Giggi frequently school in public while denying other owners and trainers a run. They use these races to get half a dozen or more handicap marks down at...

    Talking Horse Ante-Post Competition 2023 / 2024 December selections

It was 20/1 Faye. Given it can't be verified now I'm happy to select something else for the month, so cancel it off and I'll have a think about it. It'll save any controversy.

    "Coral Gold Gup" (Hennessy) 2024

My 3 against the field: Off 148 Datsalrightgino has to go close having had a quiet prep. That Stage Star line of form is getting ever better, and second season chaser like him looking so unexposed looks perfect for this. 20/1 looks very much the wrong price. Similarly Monbeg Genius has to be...

Thanks everyone. Yes very happy with that. He jumped ridiculously well. You'd never have guessed he was the novice amongst experienced chasers. He was taking half a length out of everything at most fences. He also needed the race and will come on a bundle. Plus he will improve further as he...

The King Of Ryhope finally gets his first run of the season tomorrow at Chepstow. https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/12/chepstow/2023-10-31/850755/ He starts off his novice chase career in open company. To do so clearly he has a very nice mark, but the trip is possibly a shade on the short...

    Cheltenham October 'Showcase' Meeting

The King Of Ryhope has an entry on Friday. He either goes here or Carlisle the previous day. https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2023-10-27/850712/ He was also put up as one of six timeform horses to follow yesterday

Dan has got Coco Mademoiselle who beat El Elefante in her point. He loves her to bits and I'd say both are worth following this season.

    Feedback If You Could Please

Thanks Jon. I wanted to do something a bit different with the Gold Cup. So many people don't know racings traditions and history, and it's something that's always fascinated me. If covering that side of the big races and racecourse is of interest I'll do some more of them.
