    Champion Hurdle 2026

Fair point about jumping at speed. That's the worry. But as for today's form - he wasn't tuned up for a Champion Hurdle today. And the stiffer test will bring the best out in him. He'll be 10 lengths better coming up the hill at Cheltenham.

By the way, has it stopped raining at Newbury?

Desert Orchid, yours are probably the only posts that I would read all the way through every time! I hope you don't stop posting.

I think "Give Way" was a joke about the signs on the A331, or whatever road it was, and not a barb addressed to your contribution.

If the rain has put an end to my Hyland fling then I'm probably going for: Katate Dori - because if I fancy Hyland I have to fancy KD Blizzard of Oz - because Willie's going to win it, isn't he, I don't know why we're all pretending otherwise

The 2025 Coral Gold Cup (Handicap Chase)

It's a fair question ... 14lbs for 15 lengths. I plumped for Hyland to reverse it partly because he was carrying a lot of weight that day in absolute as well as relative terms. Maybe a weak reason. They both should stay the extra distance. Maybe I'm prepared to forgive Hyland pulling up in the...

The 2025 Coral Gold Cup (Handicap Chase)

Yes I would. Henderson repeated that the other day at the Newbury gallops. But I would probably still have a go with good to soft, seeing as he didn't do too bad on that ground (and soft in places I think?) at Kempton in Feb behind Karate Dori - actually his highest RPR so far.

Hyland for me. He looks well weighted on his form against Resplendent Grey (accepting the risk that I don't know how much that one has improved) and Katate Dori. His creditable second to Jukebox Man in the Kauto Star looks a little more creditable now.

Yes, he should have seen that coming.

This is getting confusing. I forgot there were 2 races on this thread.

The 2025 Hurst Park Handicap Chase

Interesting... It's all about opinions as they say, but I don't feel too worried about Ascot for him. His two best performances have been at Exeter and Sandown ... right-handed, uphill finishes. Should I be thinking that Ascot is so different?

Top five? I don't think JPR One is badly handicapped.
