    In Memoriam (Racing People)

I noticed on Twitter the following tweets from Jonathan Powell. "So sorry to hear that Bob (RA) Davies has died. An entertaining character, he was so proud to win a hurdle race at Ascot on Pendil as a young jockey. After an extra late night out Bob once turned up to ride out for Fred Winter in...

    The 2022 Grand National

Stones and Roses is 4/1 fav at Punchestown today in from 15/2 last night. He'd fit the bill of one needing to win today to get into the Aintree field.

    Novice Chases 2021-22

That was decent from Edwardstone at Warwick, the downside being that Third Time Lucki was a lot closer than at Sandown and I am not convinced by Third Time Lucki. i think last week's Leopardstown form is stronger.

Road to the 2022 Champion Hurdle

But it is a mathematical fact, just as the weight carried by a filly winning the arc is taken into consideration when allocating a rating.

Broomfield Burg is a worthy favourite, that was a good performance at Kempton.

    Novice Hurdlers 21/22

There's an interesting novice hurdle at Naas on Saturday. O'Toole who split Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard at Punchestown in April takes on Journey With Me. Journey With Me should win as Crawford's insist that O'Toole is a long term project, but it is intriguing nonetheless.

    Novice Hurdlers 21/22

I loved Champagne Fever but nobody could say that he was a "far superior" bumper horse to Kilcruit. He may have been better, he may not, but he certainly wasn't "far superior" to Kilcruit. Kilcruit won three of his four bumpers and was a half length second to Sir Gerhard in the other. it is...

    Novice Hurdlers 21/22

While I wouldn't necessarily say that he'll win it, I think that Kilcruit is a better horse than many are giving him credit for. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he placed in it.

    Brian Hartigan

I am very sorry to hear that. I only met Brian once but you didn't need to spend long in his company to appreciate what a knowledgeable man he was. RIP

    In Memoriam (Racing People)

Bob Davies along with Terry Biddlecombe, Ron Barry, Paul Kellaway, Bill Smith and Richard Pitman were the marquee jockeys when I started watching racing in the early seventies.

May he get a long and healthy retirement. At his best, he was very good.

Road to the 2022 Champion Hurdle

Epatante may be favourite for the County Hurdle, but I can't see connections by-passing a Champion Hurdle with such little depth to it.

    Novice Hurdlers 21/22

I think that they'll go for a grade 1 with Kilcruit. Willie's numbers in the handicap hurdles will likely be down this year given how many of his less exposed novices have only had two career runs over hurdles. I am thinking of the like of Bronn, El Fabiolo, Henn See and Glengouly.

    2 Mile Chasers 21/22

I'd say that it might depend on which one Paul picks. If CPS is the spare it will likely be Patrick given how often Patrick has picked up a Ricci spare. If Energumene is the spare I would think it more likely to be Danny or maybe Sean O'Keefe given that he rode him in Cork.
