    Racing Post website and newspaper

I genuinely don't think he knows anything about racing and has only a cursory interest; for the rest of the year most of his op eds are about football and not racing. He mentions a life changing accumulator in Thought No. 1. I hope he gets it up; we might get our racing paper back.

Can someone explain why the hurdles were already set up with 2 weeks to go and snow forecast?

    Irish Racing switching to RacingUK

Add to that the opinion of Brian Kavanagh at HRI. Of course, he was involved in agreeing to the media deal two years ago and not protecting Irish racing's ability to influence SIS; that could have been a disastrous oversight - pleased it's turned out so well! I am also assuming SIS will demand...

Stopped trying to compete with Archie et al on the horses front and focusing on trying to write funnier blogs (not sure I am succeeding at that either) Off to Fairyhouse (weather permitting) tomorrow http://www.cheltenhamdream.com/blog-diary/2018/2/6/racing-at-fairyhouse-tomorrowor-are-we

    Irish Racing switching to RacingUK

Don't live in Ireland but the answer is: hardly any! Festival meetings and the classics mainly. The coverage is great when it's on but there's not too much of it. This is a disaster for ATR, racing fans and the sport. Seems like they timed this announcement to complement the one earlier this...

    Handicapping issues

So the O'Leary's have resorted to their nasty and bullying tactics “The Grand National is a fantastic race but it can only get better when Phil Smith goes.” 12 days before the weights are announced. Hopefully, he will be professional enough to ignore this petulance; not sure I would be if I was...

    Daily picks.

Peter Fahey has brought High Kicker over and has engaged the best jockey in the race. He doesn't tend to waste these trips and the horse will be well suited by both the distance and the track (Peter's gallops are even deeper than Southwell's surface). The 3/1 with Bet365 looks generous.

Very best of luck Archie. Hopefully, we will get a couple of good runs. Hope to see some of you there. http://www.cheltenhamdream.com/blog-diary/2017/12/26/a-good-day-before-a-fill-in-the-blank-day

You dream about your horse winning the Paddy Power Chase but know it is unlikely; but what if he did win? What would the interview be like? This is probably not a likely example: http://www.cheltenhamdream.com/blog-diary/2017/12/23/he-wont-winbut-what-if-he-did

    Novice Chasers 2017/2018

A bit of a surprise that Death Duty is taking on Footpad in the 2M Grade 1 at Leopardstown on Tuesday instead of running in the 2 1/2m Grade 2 at Limerick. That will be interesting - plenty of rain forecast so ground conditions should not be an excuse. Maybe Death Duty goes wherever Davy Russell...

    Leopardstown Christmas Festival

It was announced just over three weeks ago https://www.racingpost.com/news/lexus-ends-backing-of-leopardstown-grade-1/308985 - you would have thought they would have had a contractual commitment for this year; too late to find anyone else I suspect.

    The Racing Rant Thread

I was pretty irritated with Justin O'Hanlon, in the Racing Post race analysis, virtually accusing Kevin Sexton of not trying to win on a 66/1 winner of the 1.55 at Fairyhouse yesterday (you read that correctly). On vacation but needed to write a blog...

    Racing Post new site.

Thanks Tanlic. I would add that Twinspires.com also stream all UK and Ireland races live (via GBI racing) with minimal delays (although you may want to mute the volume when the presenters speak)

    Racing Post new site.

This may only apply to me, Tanlic and a few others but if you don't live in the UK, Ireland or Gibraltar you can't technically register for the Sporting Life site. No such issues on the Racing Post site and this is a very welcome development.

Ladbrokes Trophy Chase. Newbury. December 2nd.

He certainly prefers to be ridden handily but probably doesn't need to make the running. They're going to go a good pace and as long as he gets into a good rhythm in the first four or so, he should be ok. While I wouldn't go overboard, Mala Beach winning on Sunday does the form no harm (I know...

Ladbrokes Trophy Chase. Newbury. December 2nd.

Actually Grassy, Tiger Roll isn't in the Troytown but is likely to run on Thursday in the Clonmel Oils. He can stand his racing so if he runs well there (over an inadequate 2m 4f) he might show up. I know Meade is keen on running A Genie in Abottle at Newbury and he does seem a solid option -...
