    1000 Guineas

She's a better price on the Machine! According to the story on the sportinglife website, her run very much depends on Frankie being available, and he has more or less ruled himself out. So it doesn't look hopeful - dammit!

    Hayley Turner stood down 1year

It does seem excessive at this stage. I think they should review every 3 months or something like that. I think the doc is erring very much on the side of caution - I wonder if that is insurance related??! - isn't he the official BHA doctor? I would not be surprised if the decision is...

    1000 Guineas

:D:D:D I expect Cumani and Frankie will put all their considerable Italian charm to good use here... Strawbridge has to see that she has at least as good a chance as Rainbow View - she has proved now that she has trained on

Very interesting, and bears out what some of us think, that the Stewards 'awarded' the Arc to Dylan Thomas on the grounds that the 'best horse should win', rather than apply their own rules! I think we all know what the verdict would have been if the other horse in question had been French...

You have to do all the minor tracks and evening meetings to be CJ - he won't be doing that!

    1000 Guineas

No problem GS, if I'm going to have an antepost onm the Classics (like Look Here last year) I like it to be at a 'sporting' price! I've already lost my small APs on Zacinto and Border Patrol! Btw we seem now to have two threads on 2009 2yr olds....

Yes, but Coolmore don't have any horses in training in Dubai, whereas they have good horses in France. It's hardly comparable; and anyway targeting horses at Dubai involves a big change in the seasonal rota, so to speak. It just doesn't fit in with how Coolmore operate, so I doubt that...

I think her price reflects that problem, but after that Cumani is more likely to get his way and run her at Newmarket! - ie he may be able to persuade the owner that she is a more likely winner than RV at this stage. If there were not the uncertainty I'd have put quite a bit on

I certainly hope not - my W&Ps are not big bets but they are at nice prices LOL

We Fantasia fans are possibly sitting pretty too after that - I've got 21 win and 5.2 place for the Guineas (though I wish I'd put on already for the Oaks!). I think I'll get a run for my money

Are you thinking of the Brigadier Gerard? Agreed, Well Chief and Kauto to have both stood up in those consecutive Champion Chases would have been terrific Manduro not to have fractured his leg in the Prix Foy is another for me as I'm sure he would have won the Arc, if getting there sound ...

From what little I've seen of him he is very patient! In fact Elite sent him Ffestiniog's colt by Selkirk, Border Patrol, last year for just that reason - much to Cole's annoyance as he'd trained all the family to date BC is due to run at Newbury on Saturday btw

Oh God yes, hadn't 'forgotten' that but I do my best never to think about it :( Another great suggestion, with which I heartily concur: " Persian Punch to get his Grp 1 race in the Ascot Gold Cup of 2001 when he went down by a head to Royal Rebel" With ref to the Irish National...

    Hayley Turner stood down 1year

Absolutely dreadful for Hayley, when she finished the last season on such a high and had kicked down all those doors. Inevitably this is going to put her career back again after the incredible graft she has put in to get rides for so many yards. She'd been hoping and expecting that this season...

    G20 Death

It's pretty indiscriminate - the police in situations like that are mostly young men who get very 'adrenalined up' with the tension of the situation, since they are expecting (and often face) extreme violence during such protests - there is usually a lunatic fringe out to provoke a...

    G20 Death

A horrible incident, inexcusable on any account to attack a man from behind when posing no threat to anyone, I hope the copper - I was going to say 'fascist pig'! - gets put away for it. I'm afraid the police now react violently to anyone who dares give them any lip or doesn't 'jump to it' when...

    Rest of Fairyhouse Monday

Thanks Cantorius - I hadn't clocked that he had so many horses already tbh! - the very best of luck to him (and his owners!). Better anyway 30/60 decent horses than 150 of which only 30 are good'uns

    Irish National

Presumably it's always a max field, meaning bunching, being unsighted at fences, and being BD are all that bit more likely. And they probably go that little bit faster than the horses are used to... I'm sure horses pick up on the 'buzz' too, esp the tension of the jockeys in a big race. Agreed...
