    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Galway 4.13 Da Capo Glory 7th in the 2024 Coral Cup, he's had a season off, dropped nearly half a stone in the ratings, yet available at 20/1 or thereabouts. If he isn't a total soft ground dependant, which he might not be, he can run very well tomorrow. He could be a cracking each way bet...

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Sporting life comments in running: "Held up in mid-division, not much room over 2f out, not clear run over 1f out, soon switched right, no impression." I'd say that was code for 'got stopped repeatedly for three furlongs'. He wouldn't have won, he might not have even placed, but that was one...

    And he's a gelding.

    The 2025 Longshot Thread

Doncaster 5.03 Pearl Eye has had a pretty dismal year, apart from one good run in the Spring Mile. He's now trained by Gay Kellaway and has dropped down the ratings, and must be of interest in this class of race. My feeling is, he might be a bit slow or a bit of a boat on good or firm ground...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I get your thinking on this. I thought he was an eyecatcher at Goodwood. I'm not sure what happened since then though.

I was on. A quality shout, well done, sir.

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Prydwen runs today in the 7.40 at Kempton. He ran a fantastic race last time when just getting caught close home by a proper good handicapper. His all weather record is quite scintillating, running in at nearly a 50 percent win strike rate. Can he defy top weight? I think so. He's not getting...

    QIPCO British Champions Day

I fancy No Half Measures a bit aswell to prove she's no one hit wonder. It's a horse race, afterall, and she's shown she's more than capable on her day. I think she can get in the shake up.

Backing Venetia Williams' Chasers In November with Andrew Mount

I'm keeping a watch brief on one of her handicappers, The Famous Five, who Venetia could get more improvement out of this season I reckon. The horse has been unfluent and that sort of thing but still running very well. There could be much more to come if Venetia gets this one racing properly.

    QIPCO British Champions Day

Why is Pride Of Arras 25/1, please discuss. He's proven form over 12F. I'd like to see them bounce him out the stalls to try and make all. Use that stamina and get them at it early on. He won't be able to storm past horses of this calibre like he did at York last time over this sort of...

    I didn't mean it like that. 🤣

    QIPCO British Champions Day

I have to say, I mentioned Arisaig early in the season, before the Lincoln I think. I'll be taking part in this punting project, but I want to see it declared first.

Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's Unofficial Blog

Make sure you get the correct diagnosis. If he's working for the NHS you've only got 3 years to sue him. Something along these lines happend to myself back in the day. By the time I got released from the asylum it was too late to sue. 😂👍

I can't get that run in the Chester Cup out of my head mate. Tailed off and never travelling and I fancied him that day. I know that wasn't his true form but he's not getting any younger. Surely he'll bump into one tomorrow, even if he does run to his best. See how he runs, he's not for me at...

What are you backing Today? Part 2

Newmarket 4.15 Cashbox NAP 4.50 Woodhay Wonder hasn't trained on this season, but with a break off the track, can return to her old self tomorrow. Mind you, I thought that about a horse today who was a disappointment, so I pay the money and take my chance. It's what life's all about. Good luck...
