    The 2025 Grand National

He needs soft ground to win over 3 miles. The further they go, the better - ground won’t matter.

    The 2025 Grand National

Anyone have any info on Royale Pagaille - is he definitely running? He’s 125/1.

    The 2025 Lincoln Handicap

I’ll be looking at the preceding Spring Mile on the card. It often provides clues, based on the draw and how the race is run. Big field, just like the Lincoln, too. I used to love this time of year, the official start of the flat season. A 3-day Doncaster meeting, with the Lincoln the main...

Yeah, good point. And if he’s engaged to Ms Moore, then all parties should be happy. It is actually a bit of pocket talking - which is very unusual for me - but for obvious reasons I couldn’t take my eyes off the respective horses. I didn’t even realise who was riding the horses until later.

Thanks for everyone’s comments. But it’s back to my original post, I suppose. How does someone so associated with a horse like Frankel, end up on the AW a few years later, struggling to get a clear run on a horse in a Class 6 handicap?

Frankel winning the Juddmonte made jump fans cry, believe me. Perfect conditions, and he still "dwelt" in the stalls. His finest performance, imo.

Definitely not retired, hence my observing him at Lingfield last night. Absolute shocker x 2.

Was he a great jockey, or did he just strike lucky with Henry Cecil and Frankel? Should he still be bumping up the arses of Class 6 horses at Lingfield, for the Moores, “struggling to get out of a pocket?” Frankel seems a very long time ago.

I'm Thinking of writing a Racing Thriller

Talking of books… I hope a few of you latched onto to the first-rate football book what I wrote, about our heroes from the 60s and 70s: https://troubador.co.uk/bookshop/sport-hobbies/super-squad Moehat’s other half really enjoyed it, apparently.

The goods and the bads from this week

Good - the most dramatic CH you’ll ever see. I only say that, because both the fallers were ok after their falls. Bad - any fatal fall. And GDC coming up just short in this hat-trick bid.

    And the winner is....!

I really want the champ to stay the champ, but there’s no value in that. If CH doesn’t win, I think he’ll flop. So, I’ve done a couple of combi forecasts, not involving CH.
