I like to think so, thanks mate for those kind words:cool:. You were Broadsword on OHR weren't you? OMG that horse hurt me when it got beat by Baron Blakeney in the 1980 or 81 triumph hurdle. I had followed it all season and just could not see it beat. It was one of those early days lessons...

Ian has a lot of racing knowledge, I just wish he would do more of that tbh. I used to know a lot, not so much now Len sadly

I'm an arsehole sometimes as most on here know, but I gave more than I ever took from the forum. Tanlic is an arsehole like me, he has strong views and puts them blunter than most. His posts are still the ones I read first, along with Reet Hard's. Both those guys are still what makes the forum...

Just as an add, why did you get banned from TRF Ian? Bear in mind I have been barred from there and here in the past too. I like TRF, always have, some great guys on there as there are on here, We used to have some great competitions on here with them, would be good to fire those up again too...

Not harsh, I just seen it all before. It is up to forumites to recognise that soon only probably 3 or 4 people will post here, then they will cry the forum is dead. Just due to one individual. No skin off my nose, just trying to warn you what is coming. Speaking personally, the guy bores my...

In 25 years of posting on forums I have seen a number of people try to take over said forums. Mr Davies is slowly taking over this forum. A bit sad to witness tbh.

    Legend?

You must be the baby of the site below me, as I found out recently that I was a nipper at 68 :) Great chatting anyway about this, maybe others will pass comment, interesting subject I think

    Legend?

I have made a rule Simmo:p A legend has to be in our lifetime and you have to be 65+to qualify to post an opinion:p

    Legend?

I suppose I will now bring age into this, maybe it is me that is weighting my age into those who I heard more about first as a kid. Crikey this is complicated. I think a 5f all age sprint at Thirsk might be easier than this to solve:):)

    Legend?

When I was 6 in 1962 I only knew who Stirling Moss was:p

    Legend?

Is a legend this? Ask 100 people who is the racehorse they know... Red Rum would be the answer Then again. going back to Simmo's point about age.. maybe the answer would be Desert Orchid from younger people. Ask 100 people who is the jockey they know most for being good at what he does...

    Legend?

That is my point, you know that game, we know the horse game for instance, but to be a legend maybe you have to be known to people who know nothing about the game. As I said, as a kid I knew who Lester and Stirling were because their names transcended their sport. Do you have to transcend a...

    Legend?

I have no interest in F!, I do know who Jim Clark was, but was he a known name to the public is my point I think? I think I am trying to define a legend by public knowledge who do not follow that sport, maybe that is not the way,

    Legend?

I only mentioned those that came to mind, Arnold Palmer would be one from the golf world? I know bugger all about golf but I know who Arnold Palmer was from being a kid. Simmo brings up about time, so who would be the 1920s golf legend for instance? You can google it, but do we not really judge...

    Legend?

Brilliant reply. That puts time passed into it. It doesn't stop said person being a legend though. Every age has legends. So being a legend means time is a factor? Or does it? We only judge legends by our own time to be fair. We really only judge legends by our own life memory? You could be...

    Legend?

Been thinking about this a few days since Denis Law passed, re sporting ones. How do we define one? If you are into one sport or two you may have a few, who people outside those sports won't know, just because you know that sport. My favourite racing jockey heroes are Lester and Steve Cauthen, I...
