As regards ratings serious contender was 92 before ascot and 10 days later he's improved 23lbs. I know aidan said they looked after his handicap mark for ascot but even so that stretches credibility. Surely if he is improving that rapidly he will be a serious horse by the end of the season...

As a few have said I don't see the point in fixating on ratings. Lambourn was pulling away at the end and did the necessary to win. He takes his racing well and could well improve further. Rating can't tell if a horse will improve or regress the next run. The acid test will be how serious...

Similar to how I felt regards mostadhaf. Got a ridiculously high rating from winning the pow and was duly stuffed by auguste rodin in the breeders Cup turf. Not sure how jan brugheul isn't either up with calandagan or ahead after the coronation Cup. Too many ratings are built round narratives...

It was the quickest I can remember whereas the curragh was good/good to yielding on friday and although the ground was good/good to firm it still wouldn't be anywhere near as quick as ascot was.

Depending on how the eclipse goes whirl may end up in the juddmonte imho. Jury out on whether she is as effective over 12f although the wootton bassetts seem to defy normal rules of breeding.

Whirl had a hard race in the oaks so I wouldn't read the form too literally. Ryan just had to tough it out over a distance that suited whirl more than kalpana. I think the oaks form is decent but as usual we will see as the season goes on.

Amazed so many sided with kalpana. Whirl and Minnie hawk are obviously 2 very good fillies. Whirl won the musidora easily and has improved leaps and bounds. I wonder if she will end up at ascot for the champions day.

One thing I think from this week is to be very wary of the form of some races with so many not handling the firmish going and so many fancied runners bombing. If we do get rain midsummer I can see a lot of form reversals. Part of the puzzle of trying to get winners of course.

Been in Glasgow this weekend and I have to say the folk were so helpful in getting me and my best mate to the gig yesterday. Never judge a book by the cover ive learned. I'm just happy to help give back to the horses who give us so much enjoyment out of life.
