Robin Goodfellow Goes Through Card at Haydock

    Victor Chandler Chase 2012

Think there's a wee bit of harshness in critiquing AL FEROF's effort at this point - he was a Novice Chaser until last month, and now comes a clean-jumping 3rd in his first full chase, a Group 1. 11/12 wins and placings under Rules - that's some ratio. I don't think he can beat SPRINTER SACRE...

Robin Goodfellow Goes Through Card at Haydock

VVO: not really - there was one OAP lady who'd already got the first three at Lingfield yesterday when I talked to her, and another, now sadly poorly in her 80s, who used to regularly churn out four from seven every meeting. And they so don't use Excel spreadsheets!

Moe: so, have any requests to visit Bognor again been met, King George V style, with "Bugger Bognor"?

Robin Goodfellow Goes Through Card at Haydock

Five of the seven were the favourites. I've had ancient annual members at Lingfield manage that sort of selecting!

Yes, big best of luck to both horses. Looking forward to watching them.

Female Trainers - on the up?

Great to see Hen back to Grade 1 level with SOMERSBY today - and a glimpse of El Tel standing in the parade ring. I imagine the loss of Jim Lewis's support hurt the yard pretty badly, and then Terry's stroke couldn't have helped to keep her eye totally on the ball.

    Grandparents

Warmest wishes to you, Mum and Dad, and the baby Aquarian, Grassy. A truly unique star sign, known to produce high intellects, inventiveness, creativity and occasionally stone bonking eccentricity! You're unlikely to have a dull moment when young Thomas begins to ask, if not interrogate, his...

    Who's your fav guitarist?

Tanlic, I notice you've tagged your faves 'was'. Does this mean that the live ones you mention now aren't 'brilliant'?

News on South Today last night that the latest Bond film will be shot around... Bognor Regis! Boy, times must be hard! I'll be living only minutes' drive from the town, so will see if they need any extras!

Yes, Branagh in/as Coriolanus - saw the trail for that last night, and it looked pretty good stuff. Right-o, Clivex, it's off to the flicks I go! Do they still have Pearl & Dean?

    "Not passing judgment" - really?

Here's an example: your doctor tells you you're clinically obese and that if you don't lose weight, you've got a good chance of having a heart attack and being dead by 40. No personal morality involved in that, is there? But he has made a judgment on your condition and has offered his advice...

    Help please

Why not try: Hi, guys: Listen, let's not dick around with corporate WankSpeak (TM). I want the job. I can do it on the crapper, playing Poker with my left hand and texting Madonna with my right, I'm so damn good. You'd be total arsepots not to hire me. Call me, y'hear? B. Etsmate...

Goody - I think it looks (from its trailers) an interesting take on Hoover, Clivex. I'll try to get to a cinema - which I haven't been to in years - to see it. Thinking about Spielberg - ITV3 at 9 pm re-runs Empire of the Sun, which I found terribly affecting when I first saw it. I think he...

    Help please

I'm with Tracks on cutting down the amount of vowels and consonants and making it a lot more punchy, especially if the company's young and thrusting. "Fun" might come over a bit too flippant - "lively" is active and implies a cheery energy. "Seeking" often sounds more proactive than "looking...

    "Not passing judgment" - really?

Interesting use of 'moralising' in connection to 'judgmental', Gareth. Perhaps the woman in the trailer should've said: "We don't moralise about them", rather than "we don't pass judgment", as there is a clear difference.

Female Trainers - on the up?

Trefflich - if your real reason for posing your question about 'agreeing' with women training horses was to stir up debate, then you shouldn't be unhappy that you got a response, should you? I'm not sure that 'debate' equals 'bickering' - I asked you why you posed it, and you've answered why...

    Novice Chasers 2011-12

Good bold jumping type at Lingfield today, winning his second novice chase (Class 4) for Tom George, under 11.5 and a very enthused Paddy Brennan: NODEBATEABOUTIT (ALFLORA - MYSTERE/Montelimar), 7 years. PB said "He's a great jumper" when returning and although he only beat three others, it's...

    "Not passing judgment" - really?

I've just seen a trailer on Ch.4 for "Party Paramedics", which promises to show paras dealing with falling-down, puking, gobby binge drinkers. It ends with one of the paras saying, "We don't pass judgment." There's been a lot made of not passing judgment/not being judgmental in the past...
