    My All Weather Selections

Hi Dave - I’m reading your book, and I’m punting with modest stakes, using your helpful tips on each course. So far… two horses placed out of three at Southwell yesterday. I will report back after Chelmsford this afternoon. Many thanks, Len

The 2026 William Hill Handicap Hurdle

Nicholls saying he wouldn’t run him if the festival ground was good, and that there’s no need to supplement him until a few days before the race, when connections would know the weather forecast.

The 2026 William Hill Handicap Hurdle

Well done, winners! I know heavy ground can be misleading, but the race was won by a horse miles ahead of its OR.

Bucephalus for me here. Ground, course and his odds tempt me in at 40/1; new headgear too. Good each-way shout.

Will pay the heating bill thread

Christmas Chocolate Biscuits, from Waitrose or M&S. The chocolate - milk and dark - is about an inch thick. Cost more than a day’s punting at Cheltenham; but, like Cheltenham, it’s that “once a year feeling”.

I thought it was really interesting what you said earlier about the fibresand at Southwell. Talking Horses’ very own ‘Gigilo’ used to love that surface too. Gigilo is our AW and summer flat legend.

And you, Dave - I’ve just bought your book. I loved writing mine, and I’m writing my next one (ready for May, before the World Cup).

I’ve written one too - about football from a long time ago. I was relatively modest about it at the time ☺️.

Harbour Vision is one of my tracker horses, so I received a reminder email this morning. But I receive one a week about the old rogue, and I will only back him about 50% of the time. You know the rest of the story, of course. But well done with your bet.

I don’t agree, but it will be good race this year. Competitive, if lacking in real quality.

Ok, but that’s different to saying State Man banged into her and cost her the race. We’ll see, come March.

Golden Ace had already overtaken BDA, by the time State Man had fallen. Golden Ace ran a hugely underrated race.

Brighterdaysahead has been beaten twice at Cheltenham by Golden Ace. Good boost, there.

I occasionally dream about our family dog, Bula, who died 41 years ago. We have now have a neighbour’s cat who adopted us, Arthur, and whose original owners are totally happy with the arrangement. He’s a moody sod, who often bites me, but I still love him to smithereens. And I will cross a road...
