Well I had a look online and couldn't find anything that related to Schniederfreund. So I thought I'd ask the writer before jumping to conclusions.

Forgive my ignorance - what is Schneiderfreund?

I can see why a person might misread it, but you have to insert words that aren't there to actually make it say that, so for me the error is on the part of the reader not the writer.
