    The King George

Just as a little aside did we all see Sam Waley-Cohen's ride on Otage De Brion at Fakenham. I watched the race and was shouting you've got to go around again but to no avail he missed out the jump in front of the stands. What bothered me is that he said he knew what he was doing and if that was...

    greatwood

A horse that tends to travel well in his races and one that I hope will arrive spot on time is Inspector Clouseau overpriced at 22/1 IMHO. The trainer already has had a winner and the 3lbs from the jockeys allowance could make the difference.

    Hoof It

The trainer believes that this horse is better than Lochnagar so he must be a bit special and he does look a brute of a horse. Hopefully we will see him around for a few more seasons.

    Sandown Gold Cup day

A superb ride by Timmy Murphy on Poker De Sivola although I don't think he had much choice early on but to settle him at the back. The horse wasn't do too much but he picked his way through and it was a Murphyesque finish and quite ironic that he should deny one of Pipe's. How this guy doesn't...

    Doug Fraser - RIP

He is one of my favourite commentators. Lets hope it's a non story in as much that he is fine and well somewhere.

    Murphy and Johnson

Johnson had more runners last week and other jocks were put up. Although there seems nothing official it looks like the end of the arrangement. A shame for Timmy who is struggling to find any rides these days which beggars belief for a jock who has rode over a 1000 winners. Bad jockeys don't...

    Murphy and Johnson

I have been away for a while but notice that on Sunday Tom Scudamore is riding Mous of Men for Pipe/Johnson but Timmy is at the meeting riding for his father-in-law. Has there been an official parting of the ways that I have missed?

Where did you lose your virginity?

Newton Abbott circa 1964. David Barons was the local trainer then and used to farm a lot of the races long before Mr Pipe came on the scene. He had a very good amateur called Mr B.R.Davies in those days as i recall. Bob Davies became a hero of mine for quite a long time.

    Sam Thomas

There is no question that AP is the best around and replacing ST with AP will be seen as the best thing to do. It's not so much the jocking off that I object too it's the way that it's been done that gets my goat. These drip drip hints to the press leave a nasty taste in the mouth. Clivex said...

    Sam Thomas

I think it is scandalous for Paul Nicholls to come out and publicly state that they will not decide who will ride Master Minded until later in the week. What must this do to Sam Thomas already fragile confidence? If they now give him the ride he will be a bag of nerves. Good trainer he maybe...

    Sam Thomas

With this kind of insight it makes you wonder why they haven't dumped him already or even bothered to take him on in the first place. They obviously know f#ck all at Ditcheat.

Are you saying that bills are not being paid?

    David Johnson-Pipe

Surely DP could not do without the Johnson horses especially at this time of his career. Whatever the influence DJ has or hasn't on the yard he is the one who ultimately pays the bills and i would imagine it is quite a significant sum every month. I could imagine a whole host of trainers who...

    Carberry Booked For Abragante

That doesn't seem to square with Johnson's preferred jockeys of Murphy and now Carberry who are in the main quiet and sympathetic riders.

    Breakfasts

A pair of kippers and a pint of guinness. I need that before facing McCririck first thing on a Saturday morning. If I know Thommo's on I drink two pints.
